The thrift store electronics area accepts only items in good working condition, and the county warns that the list of accepted batteries and electronics can change with market conditions, so users should read the posted signs at the center.
When & how
Take electronics to a convenience center during posted hours, and check the posted sign or label at the center before unloading, because the county states that acceptable material in those areas can change and any change will be announced on a sign.
Get it ready
Do not put a portable electronic device with a rechargeable battery in the trash, because the county warns that damaged lithium batteries can cause fires. Keep a television for the blue trash containers, put a small non metal component in the garbage compactor and a mostly metal one in the scrap metal pile, and hand batteries to the rechargeable battery area.
Chemicals and oil based or lead based paint go to the household hazardous waste facility at 1033 Elm Street, which the city operates on its own hours, and a partially full spray can goes with them. Latex paint may be dried completely and put out with regular garbage. A rechargeable battery or a device holding one never goes in the trash, and the centers keep a rechargeable battery area with a changing accepted list.

Do you erase data from old computers?+
Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
