Appliances go out on the brush and bulky route, and a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner carries a charge for evacuating and certifying the chlorofluorocarbons unless the unit was already certified.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no amount for the chlorofluorocarbon evacuation and certification on a cooling appliance, only that the customer is charged for it even when the unit is empty unless it was pre-certified, so confirm the charge with the Public Works Call Center at 979-209-5900 or use the landfill route described on that option.
When & how
Set the appliance in the bulky pile by 7 a.m. on your brush and bulky day, or 6 a.m. from June through August, and leave cooling units out of the pile until you have arranged the certification or chosen the landfill route.
Get it ready
Keep the appliance in the bulky pile and out of the trash cart, and either have a certified pre-certification in hand for a unit that contains chlorofluorocarbons or plan on the evacuation charge the city applies to each uncertified unit.
Each residence may put out up to 22 cubic yards or one truck load a week. Anything over that allowance is collected for an additional fee or has to be taken to the Twin Oaks Landfill by the resident.

No charge. Brush and bulky collection is part of the residential solid waste service on the Bryan Texas Utilities account, with a published allowance of 22 cubic yards or one truck load for each residence each week and an extra charge only for material beyond it.
Arrange it
Set the piles out by 7 a.m. on your bulky day, or 6 a.m. from June through August, with bulky waste and brush separated and everything five feet clear of fixed objects.
The route refuses household chemicals, food waste, garbage, construction and demolition material, concrete, brick and rock, and a cooling appliance needs the chlorofluorocarbon charge settled or a pre-certification before collection.

Haul the load to the Twin Oaks Landfill
A household with an appliance, a computer or monitor, or a load over the weekly bulky allowance that it would rather drive than spread across weeks.
Cost & conditions
From $3 per ton of municipal solid waste at the gate, with a minimum charge for a small load. The published standard tipping fee is 32 dollars per ton with a 3 dollar minimum, and extra special fees apply: 5 dollars for a tire up to 24.5 inches, 20 dollars for a larger tire, and 11 dollars per freon unit in addition to the tipping fee, with a 30 dollar charge possible for an unsecured load.
Arrange it
Cover and secure the load before arriving, drive it to the landfill during business hours, and tell the scale attendant about any special item such as a freon unit or tires.
The gate is a charged route rather than a free drop-off, loads have to be secured or they draw an extra fee, and special waste needs prior approval from the agency before it can be accepted.

Take oil and tires to the city recycling center
A Bryan resident with used motor oil, oil filters, cooking grease or residential tires from a household vehicle.
Cost & conditions
No charge. The city's Used Oil and Tire Recycling Center is free to Bryan residents with proof of residence such as a driver licence or utility bill, and commercial or industrial material is refused.
Arrange it
Enter from Waco Street at 1111 Waco Street and stay in the vehicle until an attendant helps, on Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Limits are eight tires per visit and five gallons of oil or grease per visit, tires must be off the rim and of passenger or light and medium duty type, and the center closes on the published holiday dates.
