The local disposal guide
Crowley contracts residential solid waste and recycling to Waste Connections and runs its own bulky waste programme on top of it. Bulk items go out twice a month, on the first and third Wednesday for the Monday and Thursday route and the second and fourth Wednesday for the Tuesday and Friday route, with roughly two cubic yards allowed per set-out and everything placed within five feet of the roadway, four feet from any stationary object and clear of overhanging trees and power lines. The accepted bulk list is specific: dishwashers, televisions, computer monitors, small printers, water heaters, other household appliances and furniture, stoves, washing machines, and refrigerators or freezers with a certification report that a certified technician removed the CFCs. Tires, construction and remodelling material, lumber, drywall, carpet, tile, roofing, paint, chemicals, batteries, auto parts and medical waste are all refused, and anything outside the list is quoted by the Waste Connections local office. Construction and demolition material has its own route: the city's free dump days at the Turkey Creek Landfill, twice a year, up to one ton a visit, for residents who bring a current water bill and matching ID.
