DeSoto gives a household two published bulky routes. Once a month, in the quadrant the city assigns to the address, up to ten cubic yards of bulk or brush comes off the curb from the Friday evening before the week until everything is cleared by Friday night. Every other week, on the household's second collection day, one large item or up to three cubic yards of small bulk and bundled brush goes out beside the cart.
Furniture sits inside both bulk tracks. A sofa, a dining room table, a chair or a recliner is named among the city's large bulk examples, and a smaller piece such as an end table, a coffee table, a bookcase, a desk chair or window blinds can go out with the weekly small bulk on the second collection day.
A mattress is named directly in the city's large bulk examples, so it leaves on the monthly quadrant pickup inside the ten cubic yard limit rather than going to a hauler.
Appliances ride the bulk allowance with one published condition attached to the cooling units. Washers and dryers are named as large bulk examples, and window air conditioning units, refrigerators and freezers are accepted once the freon has been removed and tagged by an appliance or HVAC technician.
Electronics are refused on both bulky routes, and the county household chemical center takes only computers and cell phones among electronic devices. The city states plainly that electronic waste is unacceptable in the bulk and brush program, and it singles out older mirrored televisions with a hump in the back, so a television has no published destination and the household has to ask.
Large construction loads are written out of the bulk and brush program: lumber, drywall, paneling, tile, flooring, siding, concrete, sheet rock, bricks, glass and carpet or area rugs are refused, and the county household chemical center refuses construction debris as well. The city's own route for a full project is a dumpster arranged through the Action Center, while one small do it yourself project is named on the city's large bulk list as something the ten cubic yard allowance takes.
Exercise equipment is not named in either bulk list, and the bulky program is measured in cubic yards rather than item types, so a machine may fit the weekly small bulk allowance or the monthly pile but nobody publishes that answer. The piece has to be confirmed with the city before it goes out.

The monthly bulk and brush week starts on the first Monday of the first full week of the month for the household's quadrant.
