Mattresses are not named in the city's bulk list, which names furniture, appliances, extra bags, yard clippings and tree trimmings, so a mattress has to be confirmed with the hauler before it goes out.

The city publishes no mattress rule and instead links a general article about mattress disposal methods, so call Al Clawson Disposal at 512-930-5490 and confirm whether a mattress will be taken as bulk on your collection day or whether it needs a scheduled extra pickup.
When & how
Call the hauler at 512-930-5490 before the piece goes out, then set it at the curb outside the containers by 6 a.m. on the collection day only if it is accepted.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress out of the trash and recycling containers, keep it dry and manageable for the crew, and keep it clear of the bins so both the containers and the piece can be handled.
All bulk items are placed at the curbside outside of the containers, and brush or tree trimmings have to be bundled no longer than 4 feet and kept out of the trash and recycling bins.
Bulk pickup is limited to 18 cubic feet or 18 bags. Anything over that limit will not be picked up, and the resident has to schedule an extra pickup with the hauler, which covers up to 3 cubic yards or 6 carts and is billed at 8.75 dollars per pickup.
