Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions are accepted at the city's Trash Off recycling event while CRT monitors are refused there, and the weekly curbside service names no television rule, so the set has to be routed deliberately.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no curbside television rule and no fee for the Trash Off event, and the same city list accepts televisions while refusing CRT monitors, so confirm the set type and any charge before relying on either route.
When & how
Take the set to the Keep Katy Beautiful Trash Off collection on its announced date, which ran on April 11, 2026 from 9 AM to noon, or ask the hauler at 281-342-8178 whether the item qualifies as one of the three weekly heavy trash pieces.
Get it ready
Keep the screen whole and dry and wipe anything that stores data. Check the screen type before the trip, because the city event lists televisions as accepted but puts CRT monitors, mercury containing devices and hazardous waste on its refused list.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

One weekly collection, three routes and a written allowance

Katy residential collection runs once a week on a route colour: blue for Monday, red for Tuesday and yellow for Wednesday, with small commercial accounts served Tuesday and Friday and recycling and heavy trash for those accounts on Tuesday. Household waste goes in the cart near the kerb by 7 AM, recycling goes in loose and clean, and the household allowance covers up to three bulky items a week plus yard debris of 15 bags not over 35 pounds each and branch bundles under 40 pounds cut to 4 foot lengths, capped at 4 cubic yards a service day. The hauler observes New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, collecting on the next day when a service falls on one of them.

Excluded material needs a different route

The city excludes dirt, rocks, bricks, concrete, liquid paints, fuels, oils, tires, pesticides, fertilizer, batteries, pallets, construction debris and hazardous waste from collection and tells residents to ask the hauler for a solution. Two other routes cover part of that list. The Keep Katy Beautiful Trash Off recycling event takes electronics including televisions, appliances, scrap metal, paper, plastic bags and eyeglasses on its announced date, while refusing CRT monitors, mercury containing devices, tires, motor oil, paint, yard debris and hazardous waste. The city also lists Harris County Recycling, Fort Bend County Recycling, the Waller County Recycling Center and the regional recycling guide as drop-off options, and it describes a drying method for latex paint so that the hardened paint can go in the garbage and the can can be recycled.

City of Katy with Texas Pride Disposal

Use the weekly city collection

A City of Katy residential account that needs the weekly cart, recycling, up to three bulky items and yard debris collection.

Cost & conditions
$16.85 per month for the residential garbage, recycling, heavy trash and yard debris service under the rate effective September 1 2025, with extra carts at $2.09 per cart per month and small commercial accounts at $25.70 per month. Residential accounts inside the city limits of Katy, which are billed for the service through the city utility account; a Katy mailing address alone does not put an address inside the city, so the city asks prospective customers to check the residency map before applying.
Arrange it
Find the route colour and collection day for the address, put carts and bulky items out by 7 AM, and request extra carts or a smaller 65 gallon cart by email to the hauler, which delivers within a week and adds the charge to the water bill.

The service covers household waste, single stream recycling, up to three bulky items a week and yard debris inside the 15 bag and 4 cubic yard limits. Excluded material such as dirt, concrete, tires, batteries, pallets and construction debris is refused, and volumes beyond the allowance are quoted as a pay pile.

Take electronics and appliances to Trash Off

A household with electronics, an appliance, scrap metal, paper, clean plastic bags or eyeglasses to recycle on the city's community collection day.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes the Trash Off collection list and site but no fee and only the announced event date, so confirm the next date and any charge with the city at (281) 391-4800 before loading the vehicle.
Arrange it
Take the items to the Keep Katy Beautiful Trash Off collection on its announced date at the published site, which in 2026 ran on April 11 from 9 AM to noon at Katy's First Baptist Church.

A single announced event rather than a year round drop-off, with cardboard, plastic bottles, medical and biohazard waste, nuclear and radioactive waste, PCB material, mercury containing devices including fluorescent bulbs and thermostats, transformers, tires, hazardous waste, CRT monitors, motor oil, paint, yard debris and pallets all refused.

Use a county recycling or household hazardous waste drop-off

A household with recyclables, paint, oil, Freon items or tires that the city collection excludes and the Trash Off event does not cover.

Cost & conditions
The city links the county programmes rather than publishing their rates, and the Fort Bend centre states that fees must be paid by cash or check only, so confirm the accepted material and the charge with the relevant county before a trip.
Arrange it
The city's miscellaneous disposal page lists Harris County Recycling, Fort Bend County Recycling, the Waller County Recycling Center and the regional recycling guide; the Fort Bend County centre at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM and closed Wednesdays and holidays.

County programmes serve their own residents, the Fort Bend centre is a recycling and household hazardous waste drop-off rather than a trash site, it refuses business, commercial and agricultural waste, and it accepts payment by cash or check only. The city also directs paint, oil, Freon and tire questions to Earth911.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Katy means using the county and regional drop-offs the city lists, or arranging a quoted load with the hauler, because the weekly service already covers the standard bulky allowance. Inside the city limits a household can put up to three bulky items beside the cart every week and use the quarterly super heavy trash pickup on the first collection day of March, June, September and December for up to 6 cubic yards of bulky items, bags and bundles. Anything larger becomes a pay pile that Texas Pride Disposal quotes at 281-342-8178 extension 102. For material the city excludes, the miscellaneous disposal page points to Harris County Recycling, Fort Bend County Recycling, the Waller County Recycling Center and the regional recycling guide, and the Fort Bend County centre at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg takes recyclables and household hazardous waste from residents only from 8 AM to 4 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday, with fees payable by cash or check only and no business or agricultural waste. The Keep Katy Beautiful Trash Off recycling day is the city's own collection point for electronics, appliances, scrap metal, paper, plastic bags and eyeglasses, with CRT monitors, mercury containing devices, tires, motor oil, paint and hazardous waste all refused. For latex paint the city's own advice is to dry the paint out with air or kitty litter and then place the hardened paint in the garbage, and paint, oil, Freon and tire questions go to Earth911, so no rate is published for any of these routes. County recycling and household hazardous waste drop-off listed by the city

Fort Bend County Recycle Center

1200 Blume Road, Rosenberg, TX 77471

Recyclables and household hazardous waste for residential users, including plastics 1 to 7. The centre states that it is a recycling and household hazardous waste drop-off only and not a trash disposal site.

Residential use only, because business, commercial and agricultural waste are not accepted. Fees must be paid by cash or check only and credit and debit cards are not accepted, and soil or dirt is not accepted. The centre closes on Wednesdays and on its published holidays.

Monday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Thursday to Saturday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed Wednesdays and holidays, telephone 281-633-7581.

The centre publishes that fees must be paid by cash or check only but not the fee schedule itself, and the city links the programme rather than quoting a rate, so confirm the charge for the material with the centre at 281-633-7581.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Katy.

How much does TV removal cost in Katy?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Katy?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where does a television go in Katy?

The clearest route is the Keep Katy Beautiful Trash Off recycling event, which accepts laptops, monitors and televisions along with computers, printers, cables, drives and batteries, though the same list refuses CRT monitors, mercury containing devices and hazardous waste. The weekly curbside service publishes no television rule, so check the screen type and confirm before the set leaves the house.Official guidance

Who collects garbage in Katy?

Texas Pride Disposal does, under a contract with the City of Katy for residents and small businesses. Residential collection is once a week on a route colour, blue for Monday, red for Tuesday and yellow for Wednesday, with household waste in the cart near the kerb by 7 AM and recycling loose and clean in the recycling cart. Customer service runs through the hauler at 281-342-8178 extension 102 or katy@texaspridedisposal.com, and the city states that a Katy mailing address does not by itself mean the address is inside the city limits.Official guidance

What will Katy not collect at the kerb?

The city excludes dirt, rocks, bricks, concrete, liquid paints, fuels, oils, tires, pesticides, fertilizer, batteries, pallets, construction debris and hazardous waste, and it tells residents to contact the hauler for a disposal solution rather than setting the material out. A refrigerator or freezer is accepted only when it has been drained of Freon with a bill to prove the work was done, and large amounts of debris are handled as a pay pile that has to be quoted first.Official guidance

Where do Katy electronics and paint go?

Electronics go to the Keep Katy Beautiful Trash Off recycling collection, which takes computers, laptops, monitors, televisions, printers, cables, drives, network equipment, phones, toner cartridges, batteries and more while refusing CRT monitors, mercury containing devices, motor oil, paint and hazardous waste. Latex paint does not need a special trip: the city's method is to dry the paint out with air or kitty litter, place the hardened paint in the garbage and recycle the can, and it directs oil based paint, oil, Freon and tire questions to Earth911 or to the county programmes it lists.Official guidance
