The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics have a state route rather than a local one. The county hazardous waste facility refuses computers, televisions and other electronics outright, while Texas law requires television and computer equipment manufacturers to offer recycling, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality points households to the TexasRecyclesComputers and TexasRecyclesTVs programs and to Earth911 for anything outside them.
City cost & eligibility
The state page says computer recycling through the manufacturer program is free and directs television owners to the separate programme to find their options, and no local price is published. Look up the drop-off or mail back option on TexasRecyclesComputers.org or TexasRecyclesTVs.org and confirm what still has to be paid before a screen leaves the house.
When & how
Use the manufacturer programme lookup for the device, then take it to the accepted drop-off or collection point; do not take electronics to the county hazardous waste facility, which refuses them.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers and phones, keep cables and remote controls with the device they belong to, keep batteries and bulbs on the county hazardous waste route instead, and keep electronics out of the household trash.
The county facility takes chemicals, not heavy trash
The Harris County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 6900 Hahl Road is free to unincorporated county residents by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and the second and fourth Saturdays, and it takes paint, cleaners, garden products, aerosols, pool chemicals, automotive fluids, gasoline, batteries, mercury items, lamps, fire extinguishers, small propane cylinders, fats oils and greases and up to four tires a month. It refuses electronics, household appliances, heavy trash including furniture and construction debris, medical waste, medications and household trash.

Does my old TV have to work?+
Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
Where do TVs and computers go in Cypress?+
To the state manufacturer recycling programs, not to the county facility. What will the county facility not take?+
Electronics including computers and televisions, household appliances, heavy trash including furniture, woody debris and construction debris, medical and biological waste, prescription medications, explosives, smoke detectors and most compressed gas cylinders are all refused, and so is ordinary household trash.
