Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors and e-waste

Accepted with preparation

McKinney has no e-waste drop off. The city collects electronics at the curb on a scheduled appointment, up to twelve pickups a year at no additional charge, with the load in labeled boxes and one television or monitor allowed per pickup.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Up to 12 e-waste pickups a calendar year are included at no additional charge for residents inside the McKinney city limits with a water billing account in good standing, limited to one request a week, with rentals and commercial addresses excluded and anything beyond the limits treated as commercial waste. The city states plainly that it does not offer e-waste drop off services.
When & how
Request the pickup before noon on the business day before the collection day, then put the boxes at the collection point by 7 a.m. on the appointment date, at least three feet from the carts.
Get it ready
Put smaller items in a cardboard box labeled E-Waste, keep to two boxes no larger than 20 inches by 20 inches by 20 inches with a 50 pound limit each, do not stack boxes, and set out no more than one television or monitor per pickup, which does not have to be boxed. Unlabeled boxes and unapproved items are refused, and boxes are not returned.

Carts out by 7 a.m. and three feet apart

Trash, recycling and yard waste go out on the same weekly collection day. Carts go to the curb by 7 a.m. and may be set out from 6 p.m. the day before, at least three feet from the other containers and from bulky material, mailboxes, vehicles, meters, poles and fences, with the serial number facing the street and the handle toward the house. Recycling stays loose and clean with the lid closed and cardboard broken down, and an overloaded cart is not collected.

Chemicals and electronics need labeled boxes

Household hazardous waste and e-waste are collected at the curb on a scheduled appointment as well, up to twelve of each a year, in up to two cardboard boxes no larger than twenty inches on each side with a fifty pound limit per box. Boxes have to be labeled HHW or E-Waste, every container has to show its contents, one television or monitor is allowed per e-waste pickup, and nothing is taken to the city facility in person.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

McKinney households that move their own loads use the North Texas Municipal Water District facilities. Four sites take household solid waste from residents, including mattresses, furniture, lawnmowers that have been drained, lawn furniture, bicycles, grills without propane tanks, food waste and packaging material, and the Regional Disposal Facility in Melissa is the one that also takes refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners without a freon evacuation certificate. The first two visits per household each month are free with a valid Texas driver's licence and a City of McKinney water bill dated within 30 days whose address matches the licence, and a load that arrives without a tarp or cover is refused entry. Custer Road in Plano and Living Earth in Celina take yard waste, while a dump trailer, stake bed truck or box truck is treated as commercial and has to pay for disposal. Household chemicals and electronics are the exception to self hauling: the city's own facility is not licensed as a hazardous waste drop off, so both streams run as scheduled curbside collections in labeled boxes instead. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in McKinney.

How much does TV removal cost in McKinney?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in McKinney?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
