Two route patterns, one recycling day for the big items
Missouri City publishes two service patterns. Households with trash on Mondays and Thursdays have recycling, bulk and yard waste collected on Thursdays, and households with trash on Tuesdays and Fridays have them collected on Tuesdays, with everything at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Garbage itself runs twice a week, and the city's ordinance sets the service window between 7 am and 7 pm. The automatic front-loading trucks need the garbage and recycling bins at least 5 feet apart with the handles facing the house, and the monthly base rate that took effect on January 1, 2026 covers the whole package, including holiday tree pickup in January.

The city publishes no item list for the bulk collection, so an unconfirmed piece may be left at the curb, and the automatic trucks need the bins 5 feet apart with handles facing the house.
Self hauling in Missouri City means leaving the city route and using one of the destinations its own pages name. The Fort Bend County Recycling Center at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg takes glass, scrap metal, paper, plastics, styrofoam, antifreeze, car and truck batteries, oil filters, used motor oil, cooking oil and rechargeable batteries free of charge, and accepts electronics for a fee, with questions on 281-633-7581; neither the fee amount nor the hours are printed on the city page, so call first. Garbage can be taken to the BFI Blue Ridge Landfill at 2200 FM 521 Road in Fresno on 281-835-6142 and tree trimmings to Living Earth Technology at 1503 Industrial Drive on 281-499-5641 for a fee. Cell phones have their own drop-offs in the City Hall lobby at 1522 Texas Parkway, the Municipal Court lobby at 3845 Cartwright Road, the Police Station lobby at 3849 Cartwright Road and the Parks Maintenance Facility at 1523 Texas Parkway, and Missouri City Green hosts electronics collection events about twice a year.
