Every household has an assigned bulky waste collection day each month, and items too large for the trash cart go out on that day at no additional charge inside a pile no larger than six feet by four feet by four feet.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. City of Plano households inside the residential collection program, using the assigned monthly bulky waste day. There is no additional charge for a pile inside the published size, while a larger pile, an out of cycle collection or an unmanageable load has to be booked as a special paid collection.
When & how
Put the pile at the collection point no earlier than five days before the assigned bulky waste day and no later than 7 a.m. on that day. Call the city or use the interactive map to confirm the assigned day for the address.
Get it ready
Keep the pile no larger than six feet by four feet by four feet, within six feet of the alley or curb, and at least two feet from trash and recycling carts, fences, vehicles and gas meters, and keep it clear of overhead obstructions. Cut carpet and padding into small sections weighing no more than fifty pounds each, cut wood and fence sections to a maximum of six feet long by four feet wide and stack them no higher than four feet, and drain gas and oil from a lawnmower before it goes out.
Mattresses and box springs are named on the accepted bulky waste list and need no appointment beyond the household's assigned monthly bulky day.
