Trash and recycling are collected once a week on Tuesdays, and the bundled brush and bulky collection runs twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesday. Carts go out by 7 a.m., two feet apart and away from the edge of the street, with handles facing the house so the lid opens toward the street, and clear of parked cars and boats. The recyclable list is paper including cereal and cracker boxes, newspaper, junk mail, magazines and telephone books, plastic bottles and containers labelled 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7, all colors of glass, tin and metal cans, aluminum cans and corrugated cardboard, and the 2026 monthly residential rate covers the trash cart and the recycling service on the utility bill.
The dumpsters take household waste, the voucher takes the chemicals
Roanoke residents may use the dumpsters at the Public Works facility on 265 Marshall Creek Road by appointment only, booked on 817-491-6099, with six slots an hour between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday to Friday. A valid identification and a current water bill showing the same name are required at the gate, the load is charged to the monthly water billing account, and the city reserves the right to refuse unacceptable waste. The site takes residential household items, bagged garbage, recyclables, bulk trash and old furniture, and it refuses appliances, auto parts, computers and electronics, large pieces of concrete or rock, explosives or ammunition, gasoline, oil, antifreeze and other fluids, paint and thinners, shingles, construction and demolition materials and commercial waste. Household chemicals go instead to the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center at 6400 Bridge Street, and Roanoke residents need a voucher from the public works department so the center bills the city rather than the resident; the accepted list covers acids, aerosols, antifreeze, batteries, brake fluid, craft chemicals, degreasers, drain cleaners, fertilizers, fluorescent lights, gasoline, glue, herbicides, household chemicals and cleaners, motor oil, paints and stains, paint thinners, pest strips, pesticides, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, oil filters, solvents, transmission fluid and varnishes.
