Electronics are refused in the bulk pile but accepted at the city Household Hazardous Waste drop-off. The city states that televisions are no longer allowed in landfills and that The Colony takes them at that drop-off.

Hazardous liquids of any kind, large metal objects, large amounts of construction debris such as tile, flooring, roofing, long dimensional lumber, concrete, rocks and gravel, tires, televisions and steel or fence posts are all refused in the bulk pile. Those loads go to the hazardous waste drop-off on Colony Boulevard or into a roll-off container reserved through the contractor.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. The city publishes no fee for a household drop-off at the hazardous waste centre, and the electronics service is residential only.

Three short windows a month, holiday and weather closures, latex paint, explosives, radioactive materials, ammunition and commercial waste refused, commercial electronics refused by staff discretion, and gasoline limited to five gallons in its own container.
Self-hauling in The Colony runs through the city's own drop-off programme. The household hazardous waste site at 5576 N. Colony Blvd, in the parking lot east of Fire Station #2, takes electronics including televisions of all sizes, household chemicals, oil based paints, solvents, gasoline in a five gallon container, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, medications and sharps, and it opens three times a month with a Texas driver's licence and a current utility bill needed at the gate. Oil, antifreeze, car batteries and tires may also be taken to the city maintenance drop-off at 1 Harris Plaza, Suite 2, Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A household with an active water account can ask City Hall for a landfill pass that allows one trip into the Camelot Landfill, and construction and demolition loads are refused in the bulk pile, so they go into a roll-off container reserved through the contractor. Do you erase data from old computers?+
Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
