From $10 per appliance on the specialty curbside collection, with $25.00 for a freon containing unit, charged in addition to the base pickup rate. Residential customers in the district service area; the annual landfill voucher cannot be used for a freon containing unit.
When & how
Submit a specialty curbside collection request to the district, note whether the unit contains refrigerant, and set it out for the arranged pickup, or take a small appliance to Best Buy with the household's other e-waste.
Get it ready
Empty and clean the unit, secure or remove the doors, and declare the refrigerant status when the request is submitted so the right rate is applied. Keep the appliance out of the garbage and recycling cans and out of any voucher load that contains a freon unit.
Millcreek's own public works department looks after roads, stormwater, permits and inspections, and its utility directory sends solid waste to Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District on 385-468-6325. The district collects garbage and recycling weekly and tells residents to set cans out the night before because there are no return trips, with collection operations running Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Basic residential service also carries the seasonal container reservation programme for large containers during approved cleanup periods, one annual landfill voucher per household, container repair or replacement, the fall leaf programme, glass drop-off locations, curbside Christmas tree collection and moving box collection.
The district's specialty curbside collection is residential only and works as a base pickup rate plus a charge for each item selected. The base rate depends on the address, with a Valley in-district rate, a higher Canyon Communities rate and the highest out-of-district Valley rate. On top of that, a mattress or box spring is charged per piece and must be bagged before pickup, an appliance is charged at one rate when it contains freon and a lower rate when it does not, and tires are charged by whether the rim is still attached. Furniture is the notable gap: the district states that furniture is not accepted through this service while requirements and costs are reviewed.
