The local disposal guide
Orem bills garbage and recycling on the city utility account and collects garbage once a week and recycling every other week on the same day, with a green waste can that is emptied year round. The city's own pages stop there, so everything bigger or dirtier than a cart goes to the county district rather than to a curb appointment. North Pointe Solid Waste runs the transfer station at 2000 W 200 S in Lindon, names Orem as a participating city, and prices the work by the load and by the item: mixed waste including furniture and appliances by weight, the first mattress at a reduced resident rate, electronics by the unit, refrigerant extraction by the appliance, and construction material by the ton, with a second construction landfill in Fairfield for the heavier loads. Household hazardous waste is taken from residences only in limited quantities, batteries and used oil are accepted, and Orem residents can also drop real Christmas trees at city parks between December 26 and January 18.
