Televisions, computers, monitors, printers, phones, cables and gaming devices are kept out of the trash and the recycling cart and dropped at the county e-cycling station, which takes them from households without charge.
The handoff matters
Recyclables go loose in the blue cart, never in plastic bags, and glass is not part of the curbside program: bottles and jars go to a Purple Can Club bin or into the trash. Yard waste goes in reusable containers, paper bags or bundles of branches cut to 4 feet or less, and a plastic bag of leaves is tagged and left at the curb. Invasive plants such as English ivy and bamboo go in the trash rather than the yard waste pile, and batteries, electronics, paint and chemicals stay out of both carts because a battery can set a collection truck on fire.
