Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are banned from the garbage: Burien residential customers get free curbside collection of small electronics, and televisions, computers and laptops are also free at E-Cycle Washington sites.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free curbside collection of small electronics for Burien single family and multi family residential customers, with each item two feet by two feet by two feet or smaller and under sixty pounds, in a clear plastic bag on top of or beside the recycling cart, scheduled with Recology at 206.767.3322. Computers, laptops and televisions are also free to drop at an E-Cycle Washington collection site, and a Recology King County residential customer may drop limited quantities of small electronics at the Recology Store Burien.
When & how
Schedule the curbside pickup with Recology at 206.767.3322, take the set to the Recology Store Burien on a Tuesday through Sunday, or use an E-Cycle Washington site for a computer, laptop or television.
Get it ready
Bag the item and set it on or beside the recycling cart rather than inside it, take out any battery that comes out and send that battery down the battery route instead, and call rather than setting an item beside the shared carts if the address is an apartment or condominium.

Apartments and condominiums ask the bill payer to arrange it

A tenant in a Burien apartment or condominium building where carts are shared and the account is held by the property or another payer.

Cost & conditions
Service for an apartment or condominium address has to be requested by the bill payer on record, and Recology asks that items not be set next to the shared carts or containers, so the account holder arranges the collection and the arrangement and any charge are confirmed with Recology at 206.767.3322.
Arrange it
Ask the property manager or the account holder to request the collection from Recology, then follow the placement instructions the hauler gives for that property.

A tenant cannot schedule the pickup on someone else's account, items left beside shared carts may not be collected, and the free annual allowance belongs to the account rather than to an individual unit.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

A Burien household that hauls its own load uses the King County Bow Lake Recycling and Transfer Station at 18800 Orillia Rd S in Tukwila, where the garbage minimum covers the first three hundred twenty pounds and a per ton rate applies above that, and where customers with a ProviderOne, EBT or ORCA LIFT card can take the Cleanup LIFT discount off each type of waste. Construction and demolition debris is charged with the garbage load at that station, and clean wood, cardboard, scrap metal and yard waste have to be sorted into the recycling areas instead of dumped. Mattresses, futons and box springs are recycled there for a handling fee per piece, up to six dry pieces per customer per day, and an appliance that contains or contained refrigerant carries its own per unit charge and has to be set upright on the concrete island. Household hazardous waste does not go to any cart or container and goes instead to a King County collection site or the traveling Wastemobile at no fee, with a free home pickup available for residents 65 and over or with a disability. Every load has to be secured before the trip, and the vehicle and trailer combination is limited to forty feet. A Recology King County residential customer may drop limited quantities at no charge, while a non customer pays a minimal fee that depends on the material. Batteries and small electronics follow the store's own preparation rules.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Burien.

How much does TV removal cost in Burien?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Burien?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Burien residents take a television or an old computer?

Electronics are not allowed in the garbage. Burien single family and multi family residential customers get free curbside collection of small electronics through Recology at 206.767.3322, with each item two feet by two feet by two feet or smaller and under sixty pounds, bagged and set on or beside the recycling cart. Televisions, computers and laptops can also be dropped at the Recology Store Burien at 15858 1st Ave S, Suite A100, or at an E-Cycle Washington site for free, and apartment residents have to call so the request is arranged with the bill payer on record.Official guidance

What cannot go in a Burien garbage cart?

Electronics cannot go in the garbage and instead ride the free curbside small electronics collection or a Recology Store or E-Cycle Washington drop off. Household hazardous waste is banned from the garbage, the recycling cart and the organics cart and goes to a King County collection site, and construction and demolition material is not a curbside or bulky item at all, so project loads go to the Bow Lake station or into a debris box. Bulky items such as appliances, furniture and mattresses also never go in the carts.Official guidance
