Federal Way names no television or computer route and publishes no electronics fee or drop-off, so call the city on 253-835-2770 or check the King County hazardous waste list the city links before setting an electronic item out.

Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the curbside carts and out of the event loads, since the event accepts appliances, mattresses, styrofoam, soft plastics, clean wood and metal rather than electronics, and delete personal data before handover.
Batteries go to any of nine free locations around the city, including City Hall, the Community Center and the South King Tool Library, or to Call2Recycle retail sites. Styrofoam and plastic film go in the City Hall lobby, taking styrofoam blocks, bagged packing peanuts, grocery bags, film and packaging material. Used cooking oil goes into the black container at French Lake Dog Park, and oily jugs go home or in the trash rather than into the container.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. The city lists the locations as free drop-off points for residents, with additional retail options through Call2Recycle and many hardware and electronics stores.
Arrange it
Take the batteries to any of the listed locations, including Federal Way City Hall, the Community Center, Dumas Bay Centre, El Centro de la Raza, the South King Tool Library, the Multiservice Center, Northshore Ace Hardware, Marlene's Market or Poverty Bay Cafe, during that site's own opening hours.
Each host site sets its own hours and what it can take, so confirm with the location if the battery type is unusual.

The drop-offs are for the listed material only, with oily cooking oil jugs and other waste excluded, and the styrofoam program asks that packing peanuts arrive bagged.
The city publishes the drop-off locations without separate hours, so use them during City Hall business hours and confirm on 253-835-2771 or by email if the timing matters.

Do you erase data from old computers?+
Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
