Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

University Place households have two drop-off addresses and a state program. The hauler's own yard at 2815 Rochester St W is the closest: the recycling center there takes scrap metal, appliances, glass, scrap wood such as old fences, decks and construction debris, and yard waste, with a check-in at the office first and a yard waste fee, and it is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The clean-up drop-off at the same address takes two declared loads a year, one of garbage and one of yard waste, on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with photo identification and a load that is covered, sorted and kept to pickup size. For anything else, Pierce County runs the Hidden Valley Transfer Station at 17925 Meridian Ave E in Puyallup, open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., where garbage, yard waste, recycling, e-waste and motor oil go and larger loads are weighed, with a minimum charge for the first 400 pounds and a per ton rate above that. Televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, tablets, e-readers and portable DVD players recycle free through E-Cycle Washington at registered collection sites, and keyboards, printers, toner cartridges and cell phones are taken free at participating Best Buy and Staples stores. Household chemicals never go in a cart or down a drain: Pierce County takes them at 17925 Meridian E in Puyallup on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and at 3510 S Mullen St in Tacoma from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department hazardous waste line at 800-287-6429 for questions. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in University Place.

How much does electronics pickup cost in University Place?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in University Place?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where do old computers and monitors go?

To E-Cycle Washington, which recycles computers, laptops, monitors, tablets, e-readers and portable DVD players free for Washington residents at registered collection sites, and the state's 1-800-RECYCLE hotline or location finder names the nearest one. Keyboards, mice, printers, toner cartridges and cell phones are outside the state program, and participating Best Buy and Staples stores take those at no charge. The Pierce County transfer station in Puyallup also accepts e-waste.Official guidance

Is there a charge to recycle a computer in Washington?

No. E-Cycle Washington is a free state program for Washington residents, and televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, tablets, e-readers and portable DVD players are on its free list. Keyboards, printers, toner cartridges and cell phones are not part of the state program but are taken free at participating Best Buy and Staples stores. A collection site may still refuse a badly damaged item, such as a screen with a broken tube, so call ahead if the device is in bad shape.Official guidance
