Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Special rules apply

Appliances must not go inside a container. The Sanitation Division collects them from outside the container as an extra pickup, and the Landfill takes appliance material by weight.

City cost & eligibility
The extra pickup and the landfill rate are both chargeable, and the City publishes them only through the fee schedule and by phone.
When & how
Set the appliance outside the container and call the Sanitation Division to arrange the extra pickup, or take it to the Landfill on a weekday.
Get it ready
Never place an appliance inside a roll-off or refuse container. Keep the unit upright and empty, and confirm the pickup day and any appliance handling requirement when you call.

Scrap metal and metal items

Special rules apply

Metal that is not an appliance has no separate city collection route, so it is confirmed by phone and routed to the Transfer Station or the Landfill as bulky material.

City cost & eligibility
The City does not publish a separate scrap metal rate, and metal arriving at a city site is charged as bulky or weight-based material, so confirm acceptance and the fee first.
When & how
Call the Sanitation Division before hauling so the load is routed to the correct site and time.
Get it ready
Keep metal out of the refuse and recycling containers, and remove wood, plastic and glass that the receiving site will not take. Confirm whether the load counts as bulky material or as weight-based disposal.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Appliance removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Cheyenne.

How much does appliance removal cost in Cheyenne?

A full-size household refrigerator is $109 as a single item. A washing machine is $109, and a dryer is $109. Other appliances have their own catalog prices. Choose each item to see your exact total before booking; disposal and recycling costs are included in the item price.

Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Cheyenne?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Your pickup is scheduled for a day rather than an exact arrival appointment, and we text you before arrival. Have the appliance disconnected and ready outside by your pickup readiness time.

Can you take a washing machine and dryer in one pickup?

Yes. Add one Washing machine and one Dryer so both units are included in the price. They are separate items, even when you bought them as a set. If yours is a single combined unit or the machines still need to be unstacked, contact us before booking to confirm the scope.

Will you disconnect my appliance or carry it out?

Dropcurb picks up appliances that are already disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange uninstallation, utility disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Use a qualified professional for gas, hardwired or plumbing connections when needed. We handle loading and haul-away from the outdoor pickup spot.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

Can a refrigerator go in a Cheyenne dumpster?

No. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers and stoves must not be placed inside a roll-off container. Set the appliance outside the container and call the Sanitation Division for an extra pickup, or bring it to the Landfill on Happy Jack Road, where disposal is charged by weight.Official guidance

Where can Cheyenne residents take scrap metal?

The City does not publish a separate scrap metal program, so call the Sanitation Division first. Metal is routed to the Transfer Station or the Landfill as bulky or weight-based material, and metal has to stay out of the weekly refuse and recycling containers.Official guidance

How much does Cheyenne charge for bulky disposal?

The City describes the bulk item pickup as an additional charge and does not publish a per-item rate, and the disposal sites assess fees by weight under the Solid Waste Fee Schedule. Call the Sanitation Division at 307-637-6440 to confirm the amount for your load before scheduling or hauling.Official guidance

Which Cheyenne site takes my item?

Electronics, tires and ordinary bulky material go to the Transfer Station on North College Drive, construction demolition and heavier waste go to the Landfill on Happy Jack Road, and branches, tumbleweeds, sod and other yard material go to the Compost Facility on Windmill Road. The Transfer Station refuses concrete, asphalt, shingles, yard waste and household hazardous waste.Official guidance

Where does Cheyenne take household hazardous waste?

Household hazardous waste is accepted at the Transfer Station Tuesday through Friday 9am to 2:30pm with a daily noon to 12:30pm closure and Saturday 7am to 10:30am. It includes oil-based paints, poisons, pesticides, flammable liquids, acids, drain cleaners, oxidizers, antifreeze and batteries, while latex paint goes in regular trash only after it is completely dried out.Official guidance
