A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Add each furniture item and its quantity. See the combined price before you pay, with loading, transportation and disposal included.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

  1. Choose what leaves and what stays.

Count the furniture you want removed and empty drawers, shelves and cabinets. Add any other items to the booking instead of leaving an unlisted pile beside the furniture.

  2. Arrange the move outside.

You handle indoor carrying and any disassembly needed to get the furniture through your home. Plan for doorways, interior stairs and building access before pickup day.

  3. Show exactly what goes.

Use a permitted outdoor spot with a clear route to the furniture. Add a location photo and access notes. Keep the pickup items separate from furniture and belongings that are staying.

Heavy trash and furniture

Accepted with preparation

The weekly curbside program takes heavy trash: large yard waste, furniture and material from minor household projects such as cabinets or toilets, as long as the pile stays inside the City's size limits.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Heavy trash at homes receiving City collection on the assigned weekly collection day. The City publishes no separate heavy trash charge and asks for no advance call for material that meets the pile limits.
When & how
Heavy trash moves with the same weekly collection as the carts. Bagged grass clippings are collected at the curb when they are set clear of obstacles.
Get it ready
A pile, including brush, may not exceed four feet high, ten feet long and five feet deep. Put it no more than two feet from the street's edge and about five feet from mailboxes, utility poles, fences and parked cars, keep it clear of low limbs, utility lines and water meters, and expect an oversized pile to be left for the resident to dispose of.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Carts at the curb with room around them

City code asks for carts at the curb or alley by 7:00 a.m. on the collection day, within two feet of the curb and at least three feet from other objects, with the handle facing away from the street. One section of the City's residential page states 6:00 a.m., so setting out by the earlier time covers both, and carts come in within 24 hours after they are emptied.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Florence residents can haul their own loads. The city landfill at 29485 County Road 14 takes nonhazardous construction and demolition waste generated inside the city limits with proof of residency, and city residents may put household waste in the dumpsters there. It opens Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., closes Saturday, and the City lists the county sites at 5450 and 5700 Hwy 157 as the Saturday option. Recycling drop-off is separate: the Recycling Plant at 1200 Terrace Street keeps outdoor bins open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and available to anyone. Call the Solid Waste and Recycling office at (256) 760-6495 before bringing an item the City does not list. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Florence.

How much does furniture removal cost in Florence?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Florence?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.

What counts as heavy trash in Florence?

The City defines heavy trash as large yard waste, furniture and material from minor household projects such as cabinets or toilets. Bagged grass clippings are picked up too when they are set out clear of obstacles, and storm debris on private property stays with the property owner.Official guidance

Is there a size limit on a heavy trash pile?

Yes. A pile, including brush, cannot exceed four feet high, ten feet long and five feet deep, and an oversized pile is not acceptable heavy trash and is left for the residential customer. Businesses, apartments, churches and non-profits are responsible for their own tree and yard debris.Official guidance

Where should the pile go?

Within two feet of the street's edge and about five feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, utility poles, fences and parked cars. Keep the pile out from under low hanging limbs, utility lines and cables, and never place trash on top of a water meter.Official guidance

Who collects garbage and recycling in Florence?

The City's own Solid Waste and Recycling Department does, on one assigned weekly collection day per address, in a green garbage cart and a blue recycling cart that stay with the property. City code makes participation in the collection system mandatory for homes and businesses inside the city limits.Official guidance

Who do I call about carts, collection or an item question?

The Solid Waste and Recycling office is at (256) 760-6495 for carts, collection problems and item questions. The landfill scale house is at (256) 718-5199, and the Street Department handles heavy trash and rights of way at (256) 760-6460.Official guidance

Do holidays change the collection day?

Most holidays do not. The City's published schedule lists Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day with no change, while Juneteenth, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day move the affected pickups one day later, with the Friday pickup going out on Saturday. Garbage is asked for at the street by 7:00 a.m. on the collection day.Official guidance

Where can I take things myself?

The City lists two drop-off sites open to everyone: the Florence Recycling Center at 1200 Terrace Street, whose outdoor bins stay open around the clock, and the Florence Landfill at 29485 County Rd 14. The City's flyer and recycling page also list the county's own locations and the towns of Killen, Lexington, Rogersville and St. Florian.Official guidance
