Los Reales charges a per appliance fee for anything designed to use refrigerant, in addition to the load fee, while the county transfer stations list household appliances as scrap metal, with refrigerators accepted without Freon at the North Oracle Road site and one Freon item per household per year at the Sahuarita site.
City cost & eligibility
From $20 per appliance designed to use refrigerant at the regional landfill, in addition to any other applicable load fee. Pima County residents self hauling to Los Reales. Household appliances such as washers, dryers and water heaters go through the scrap metal stream at the county transfer stations where residential fees apply, and a refrigerator at the North Oracle Road station has to be free of Freon.
When & how
Los Reales takes deliveries Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the North Oracle Road transfer station is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both close on the listed state holidays.
Get it ready
Empty the unit, and say up front whether it holds refrigerant, because the landfill prices refrigerant appliances separately and the transfer station has its own Freon rule. Keep the appliance out of the household recycling bins and off the curbside route unless the hauler account covers bulky appliances.

Tanque Verde is unincorporated Pima County and the county's own guidance for an address outside the Tucson city limits is to hire a permitted solid waste hauler for curbside garbage and recyclables or to self haul to a disposal facility. Nothing sits at the curb waiting for a city crew, and the county publishes no bulky collection day for this area.
Cover every self haul load and expect a gate minimum
At the regional landfill a covered load under 2,000 pounds pays the minimum charge, a heavier load is priced per ton, an uncovered load costs more again, and every load carries an added environmental fee. Payment is by card only and a deposit may be required, so arrive with the load covered and secured.
Keep universal waste, liquids and batteries out of the load
The landfill refuses regulated hazardous waste, universal waste, bulk liquids, lead acid batteries, waste oil, explosives, ammunition, intact vehicles and anything banned by federal, state or city rules. Electronics fall under that refusal, which is why a television or computer goes to the household hazardous waste program instead of the landfill gate.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Cost & conditions
Curbside service in unincorporated Pima County is a private subscription, so the hauler sets its own monthly rate and its own bulky item terms. Pima County publishes a list of haulers permitted by the county, and the county does not publish a price for those accounts.
Arrange it
Arrange the account directly with a hauler permitted by Pima County, and ask that hauler which bulky items it takes, how they have to be prepared and whether there is a set out limit.
The county does not collect in this area, so an unarranged item left at the curb is an illegal dump, and the county asks residents to use a permitted hauler and to keep the landfill receipt.

Free recycling drop-off, bagged household waste, municipal solid waste, green waste, concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, furniture, carpet and construction debris. Tires are free for residents up to five a year with no off-road tires, antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint are free up to five gallons a month, and scrap metal including household appliances such as washers, dryers, hot water heaters and refrigerators without Freon is taken with residential fees.
No hazardous waste, liquid waste, dead animals or off-road tires, and commercial waste needs prior approval. Refrigerators have to arrive without Freon. Uncovered loads are charged an extra fee, and the station is closed on the listed state holidays.

Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.

Do all county transfer stations take the same things?+
