Arrange the removal with Waste Management of Alameda County at (510) 537-5500, and confirm whether the unit is billed at the per unit appliance rate or counted among the three large appliances the bulky item list removes at no fee.
Get it ready
Empty the unit, remove or secure the doors, and keep it out of the household carts. Confirm the route for anything that holds refrigerant before it is set out.
Place the cart on the street with the wheels against the curb by 6 a.m. on the collection day and bring it in the same day. Keep it at least three feet from parked cars, mailboxes and other obstacles, keep carts at least two feet apart from each other, and store them on private property and out of view from the street no later than midnight on collection day under the municipal code. Bag all trash and close the lid, because overflow can draw an extra charge or be left behind.
The city rate schedule gives each household two cubic yards of bulky material twice a year.
