Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Ready outside. Taken from there.

Your TV can stay inside while you book. Before pickup, arrange to have it disconnected, taken down if mounted and moved to an accessible outdoor spot.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and small electronics

Special rules apply

Televisions and computer monitors are refused on the bulky item list and electronic waste is refused at the city's hazardous waste events, so the city has to confirm the route.

City cost & eligibility
Modesto publishes no electronic waste drop-off or pickup on these pages, and electronic waste is refused at the city hazardous waste events. Confirm the current route and any charge with the Solid Waste Division at 209-577-5494 or the county facility at (209) 525-6789 before loading.
When & how
Call the Solid Waste Division at 209-577-5494 to confirm where a television, monitor or computer goes before setting anything out, because the bulky appointment and the hazardous waste events both refuse it.
Get it ready
Never put a television, computer monitor or plate glass into a bulky pile, because the unacceptable list names them, and never put electronic waste into a hazardous waste event load, because that list refuses it too. Wipe or reset anything that stores data before it leaves the property.

The handoff matters

Right item.

What the bulky programme takes and refuses

The acceptable list covers air conditioners, doors and ladders, exercise equipment and bicycles, plastic or fake Christmas trees, large appliances with all doors removed, mattresses, couches and chairs, patio furniture and barbecues with the propane tank removed, tables and desks, toilets, sinks, tubs and hot tubs, and water heaters and water softeners. The unacceptable list covers concrete and asphalt, construction and demolition debris, wood and yard waste, dead animals, hazardous waste, chemicals and toxic materials, household garbage, business items, liquids, paints and solvents, plate glass, televisions and computer monitors, and tires and automobile parts.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Modesto runs the collection through two haulers, Bertolotti Disposal Services and Gilton Solid Waste, coordinated by the city's Solid Waste Division at 209-577-5494. A single family household gets two bulky item pickups a calendar year, with the pile placed in the street against the curb in front of the home and nothing set out before 6:00 PM the evening before, or two haul-it-yourself vouchers a calendar year for a load no larger than four by four by eight feet taken to the provider's transfer station. Mattresses, couches, chairs, large appliances, water heaters and exercise equipment are all accepted, while televisions, computer monitors, construction debris, liquids, paints, solvents and tires are refused. Mattresses also go free to the city drop-off site on Conejo Avenue, and hazardous waste goes to the city drive-up events or the Stanislaus County facility on Morgan Road. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Modesto.

How much does TV removal cost in Modesto?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Modesto?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a Modesto television go out with the bulky items?

No. Televisions, computer monitors and plate glass are on the unacceptable list for the bulky item programme, and electronic waste is refused at the city's household hazardous waste events as well. Call the Solid Waste Division at 209-577-5494 to confirm the current route for a screen before it leaves the house.Official guidance

Where do Modesto paint, oil and batteries go?

To a city drive-up household hazardous waste drop-off event, with sealed containers, no mixed liquids, no container larger than 5 gallons and no more than 120 pounds of combined weight. Antifreeze, aerosols, batteries, bulbs, paint and thinner, pesticides, pool chemicals, propane cylinders, used motor oil and filters and similar items are accepted, while electronic waste, explosives, ammunition, tires, business waste and medications are refused. The Stanislaus County facility at 1710 Morgan Road takes material year round on Fridays and Saturdays from 8AM to 12PM.Official guidance
