A Redwood City bulky appointment covers one of four loads: twelve 32-gallon bags of garbage, recyclables or compost with loose material bagged, boxed or bundled, under 60 pounds each and no more than two cubic yards; one large appliance such as a washing machine, clothes dryer or household refrigerator; one bulky item such as a mattress and box spring, furniture, or four tires without rims; or one electronic waste item such as a computer monitor, microwave or television.
Residential customers receive two curbside bulky item appointments a calendar year at no additional charge, taken on the regular collection day, and appointments can be scheduled from February 1 through December 31. They do not carry over from one year to the next, extra collections can be arranged for a fee, and a tenant in a multi-family building arranges the pickup through the property manager.
Liquids, sludge, dirt, rock, hot ashes, concrete, asphalt, hazardous waste, infectious waste, construction debris, demolition debris, anything longer than five feet, treated wood and items over 200 pounds are all outside the bulky item programme, and an item over 200 pounds may carry an extra fee and is not guaranteed even so.
