Electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfills since July 1, 2013, the Weld County household hazardous waste facilities refuse electronics, and the county points residents to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's registered electronics recyclers, which set their own prices, so confirm the fee with the recycler you choose.
When & how
Take the device to a registered Colorado electronics recycler from the state list the county links, and keep it out of the totes, out of a landfill load and out of the hazardous waste drop-off.
Get it ready
Erase personal data before the device leaves your hands, keep batteries and any appliance holding refrigerant separate, and confirm what the recycler accepts and charges before loading.
Refrigerators, tires, electronics and liquids stay out of the load
The landfill refuses air conditioners, batteries, electronic waste, freezers, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids such as paint, oil and chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, refrigerators, propane containers and tires, and electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfills since July 1, 2013. Household chemicals go to the Weld County facility inside Dacono instead, and electronics go to a registered state recycler.

If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
