The drop-off center needs a permit and takes cash only
The Mom & Pop Drop Off and Recycling Center at 307 White St. requires a permit, which is free to Danbury residents with proof of residency and is issued at the site, with a daily fee for non-residents. Payment at the transfer station is by cash. The center opens Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday noon to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and commercial vehicles or vehicles with loose garbage cannot use it.

Residents stay in their vehicle the whole time, place only the material to be removed at the back of the vehicle, and have a driver's license ready as proof of residency while workers take the contents out. Waits run from five to thirty minutes, the event runs rain or shine, the authority may inspect a vehicle with an excessive amount of material, and large quantities are subject to a fee.
