From $25.85 for the published bulk waste rate per cubic yard on the City large item pickup page, which is how an appliance set out with the bulk collection is billed on the Kissimmee Utility Authority bill. City of Kissimmee residential customers inside the city limits. The City schedule page publishes a slightly different per cubic yard figure and marks its bulk table as varying with weight, so confirm the rate with the Solid Waste Division.
When & how
At the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled bulk collection day, with the division notified at 407-518-2507 that the appliance is going out.
Get it ready
Place a refrigerator with the door side down or remove the door entirely so a child cannot be trapped inside, and empty and clean the unit before it goes out. Because the City publishes no degassing or tagging step for a unit that still holds refrigerant, ask the Solid Waste Division how a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner should be prepared before it goes to the curb. Keep the appliance at least four feet from other objects and away from a yard waste pile.
Bulk items go at least four feet from other objects, out of the sidewalk and away from storm drains. Bulk waste cannot be mixed with yard waste or garbage, and a tree trimming pile stays separate from other kinds of bulk. A refrigerator needs the door side down or the door removed, and a pile is not left in the right of way if it is meant to be given away, because a driver may collect it by mistake.
