Mattresses of any size and box springs are named as large items in the city ordinance, so they go out with the scheduled large item collection rather than in the cart. The city also asks that bedding be stacked neatly at the curb.

Household items from your own address. A refrigerant appliance has to be certified as degassed and tagged by a certified technician before collection, and construction debris, tires and the other items on the do-not-collect list are not accepted.
The drop-off for the things Acworth curbside crews will not take is the Cobb County transfer station at 1897 County Services Parkway in Marietta, where household waste, construction and demolition debris, electronics, mattresses, tires and refrigerant appliances are all accepted at the scale house. Bring a valid Georgia driver's license, because that is the only proof of Cobb County residence the station accepts, and expect extra handling charges on top of the weight charge for electronics, tires, propane tanks, paint and refrigerated units. Yard debris goes to a separate vegetative waste site on the same parkway. Cobb County also runs recycling drop areas for paper, cardboard, cans, cartons and plastics, but those bins do not take electronics, furniture, mattresses, tires or hazardous material.
