No charge. The city states that appliances can be dropped off at the Citizen Convenience Center at no additional charge to Solid Waste Program customers, while curbside appliance collection is run by an outside company that charges a nominal fee for refrigerant removal from refrigerators and freezers.

Take the appliance to the Citizen Convenience Center at 402 S. East Street during its posted hours, or call Norman Hicks at 309-846-8020 to arrange curbside collection.
Get it ready
Stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, microwaves, dehumidifiers, air conditioners and water heaters are the listed appliances. Refrigerators and freezers must have the doors removed and cannot contain food or bulk, and empty propane tanks must have the valves removed.
Carts go out by 6 a.m. and come back by 9 a.m. the next day
Carts go in the parkway or at the end of the driveway near the street no earlier than 2 p.m. the day before pickup and no later than 6 a.m. on the pickup day, emptied carts come back from the curb no later than 9 a.m. the day after pickup, and carts have to be stored where they are not visible from the street. Carts stay at least 4 feet from anything that would block collection and at least 10 feet from vehicles parked in the street, with the arrows on the lid pointing toward the street and the lid closed.
Commercial waste, heavy material and hazardous waste have their own routes
Commercial waste is not acceptable for curbside pickup, and leaves, garden trimmings, brush, hot ashes, solvents, paint, dead animals, chemicals, oils, liquids, medical waste and household hazardous waste cannot go in a cart. Needles go in a sealed coffee can or laundry detergent container with the ends broken off, labeled for sharps and placed inside a garbage cart, and appliances, concrete, rock, shingles and electronics each have a separate destination instead of the carts.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Use the Solid Waste Program carts and curbside collection
A City of Bloomington Solid Waste Program customer with garbage, recycling and alternating week leaves, trimmings, brush or bulk.
Cost & conditions
From $20.88 per month for the smallest Solid Waste Program cart on the current rate table, which includes the first loader bucket of bulk waste at about 2.5 cubic yards. City of Bloomington Solid Waste Program customers, with the 65 and 95 gallon carts billed at their own monthly rates, additional loader buckets in the same week billed per bucket, and a curbside bulk fee outside the regular collection periods.
Arrange it
Call Public Works at 309-434-2220 for cart repairs, additional carts or a size change, put carts out no earlier than 2 p.m. the day before and no later than 6 a.m. on the pickup day, and buy additional garbage bag stickers at The Hub or the public library.
Commercial waste is not acceptable, carts must be stored out of sight from the street and returned from the curb by 9 a.m. the day after pickup, and leaves, garden trimmings, brush, hot ashes, solvents, paint, chemicals, oils, liquids, medical waste and household hazardous waste cannot go in a cart.
