Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is named nowhere in the Village or hauler material, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed before it goes to the curb. A heavy machine is likely to fall into the special refuse collection rather than the two sticker bulk rule.

When & how
Call the hauler before the collection day and set the machine out only once the route is confirmed.
Get it ready
Describe the machine and its weight when calling, break it down so a driver can lift the parts, and attach stickers only if the hauler confirms the item qualifies as a bulk item.
The Village's hauler requires one pink refuse sticker for each bag or rigid container of 30 gallons or less and two pink stickers for any item over 30 gallons, which is why a bulk item costs two stickers. Stickers are sold for 4.00 each at locations including Village Hall at 123 Madison Street, and one bulk item is collected each week with a general guideline of 50 pounds.
Items needing special equipment and extra labour, such as a piano, a sofa sleeper, a large entertainment centre and construction debris, are handled as a special refuse collection rather than with the two sticker bulk rule. The hauler provides a cost estimate after the item is described or photographed and does not guarantee collection of every item, and it also rents dumpsters for larger cleanouts.

Cost & conditions
$8 for for the two pink refuse stickers that a bulk item requires at 4.00 each, with one bulk item collected each week and a 50 pound general guideline. Oak Park residential buildings of five or fewer units served by Lakeshore Recycling Systems, with stickers bought in advance.
Arrange it
Buy the stickers at one of the listed sellers, attach both to the item, and put it out with the regular weekly collection by 7 a.m.
Two stickers cover one bulk item and the general guideline is 50 pounds, so anything heavier or needing equipment is a special collection, and the Village's prohibited list still applies.

Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
