No Peoria page names appliances or publishes an appliance charge, so call GFL at 309-688-0760 and confirm the unit before setting it out, and ask at the same time about any refrigerant handling.

The local disposal guide
Peoria picks up its own household waste and bulky material rather than running events or vouchers. Bulky waste is unlimited: furniture, mattresses, building materials such as wood and sheetrock, carpet and underpadding all go out with the weekly collection, and the fee is already inside the annual bill. The city asks residents to call GFL at 309-688-0760 so the truck can be staffed for the load, though the pickup happens whether or not the call is made. Anything that fits in the cart goes inside it with the lid closed, a bigger item is bagged and set at least three feet from the carts, and an item too large for a bag is set three feet clear as well, out as early as 3 p.m. the day before and by 6 a.m. on the collection day. Not everything rides that truck: electronics, tires, chemicals, concrete, rock, dirt and fluorescent tubes are refused, and each has its own answer, from the Illinois ban on landfilling electronic waste to three local tire businesses and the county line for sharps questions. Yard waste runs from April 6 to December 11 with its own container and bundle rules.

Electronics are refused on the bulky route, where computers, televisions and printers are named among the items not picked up, and Illinois has barred landfills from accepting electronic waste since January 1, 2012, with the city directing residents to the Illinois EPA for disposal recommendations.
Building materials are part of the city's bulky waste list, with wood and sheetrock named, and carpet and underpadding are named with them, so a small renovation load goes out with the weekly collection inside the annual bill. Concrete, rock and dirt are the exceptions and are refused.
Exercise equipment is not named on the bulky list or the refusal list, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed with GFL before it goes out, even though it looks like the same kind of load the unlimited bulky programme takes.
Chemicals and fluorescent tubes are refused on the bulky route, so hazardous material never goes out with the trash. Sharps go into a properly sealed container before they are placed in the trash, with Peoria County Solid Waste Management answering at 309-681-2550, and the city has no tire programme at all, naming three local businesses that take tires for a nominal fee.
The handoff matters
Peoria asks residents to put bulky material out as early as 3 p.m. the day before the weekly collection and no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day. An item small enough to fit goes in the trash cart with the lid closed; anything bigger is bagged and the tied bag is set at least three feet from the carts and other obstacles; and an item too large for a bag is set at least three feet clear as well, away from cars, mailboxes and anything else in the way. Calling GFL at 309-688-0760 flags the load so the truck can be staffed for it, and the city states the pickup happens whether or not that call is made.
City bulky waste page with the unlimited curbside programme, the annual bill fee, the GFL contact, the three set-out branches and the refusal listThe city's bulky page refuses electronics such as computers, televisions and printers, tires, hazardous materials and chemicals, concrete, rock and dirt, and fluorescent tubes, and it sends readers to the other disposal page for each. In practice that means electronic waste is barred from Illinois landfills and goes to an Illinois EPA recommendation instead, chemicals and bulbs stay out of every curbside stream, and tires are handled by one of three local businesses the city names because Peoria runs no tire programme.

Containers are plastic or metal carts of 40 to 45 gallons with two handles and a tight fitting lid, or wheeled carts of 65 or 95 gallons, labelled with a Yard Waste Only sticker available at City Hall, Public Works or any GFL location, and compostable paper bags are accepted while compostable plastic bags are not. Lids close, a filled bag may not exceed 30 pounds, containers sit three feet from the trash and recycling carts, and bundles are tied with nonmetallic cord at no more than five feet and 50 pounds. The container moves off the curb within 24 hours and is stored in a garage or alongside the house rather than in front of or behind the home.

No item limit is published. The city states that bulky waste collection is unlimited in Peoria and that the fee is included in the annual bill, so a household puts out big items with the weekly trash collection after calling GFL at 309-688-0760 to flag the load, although the pickup happens without the call. Furniture, mattresses, building materials, carpet and underpadding are the published typical items, and electronics, tires, chemicals, concrete, rock, dirt and fluorescent tubes are refused.Official guidance
Yes, with the weekly collection. Couches are named on the city's bulky waste list along with tables, chairs, desks, end tables and entertainment centres, and bulky waste is published as unlimited with the fee already inside the annual bill. The piece goes out between 3 p.m. the day before and 6 a.m. on the collection day, at least three feet from the carts and other obstacles, and GFL at 309-688-0760 can be called to flag the load.Official guidance
Put it out with the weekly collection. Mattresses are named on the city's bulky waste list, bulky waste is published as unlimited with the fee included in the annual bill, and the material goes out between 3 p.m. the day before and 6 a.m. on the collection day at least three feet from the carts and other obstacles. GFL at 309-688-0760 can be called first so the truck is staffed for the load, though the pickup does not depend on the call.Official guidance
Not in the trash and not on the bulky truck: the city names computers, televisions and printers among the items not picked up as bulky waste, and it notes that Illinois law has barred landfills from accepting electronic waste since January 1, 2012. Peoria publishes no permanent electronics drop-off, so the city points residents to the Illinois EPA for disposal recommendations, and personal data should be wiped before a device is handed over.Official guidance
Yes, within the bulky rules. The city's bulky waste list names building materials such as wood and sheetrock along with carpet and underpadding, the programme is published as unlimited with the fee inside the annual bill, and the material goes out between 3 p.m. the day before and 6 a.m. on the collection day at least three feet from the carts. Concrete, rock and dirt are refused, as are chemicals and fluorescent tubes, so those need another route.Official guidance
The city of Peoria runs the collection under its Yes, Peoria Picks Up programme with GFL Environmental, and GFL answers at 309-688-0760 for bulky loads and dead animal reports. Bulky waste is published as unlimited with the fee included in the annual bill, so there is no separate large item charge, and the Public Works and Code Enforcement teams handle nuisance complaints at 309-494-8654.Official guidance

Yard waste runs from April 6 to December 11 in 2026 and is collected the same day as trash. Use a plastic or metal cart of 40 to 45 gallons with two handles and a tight fitting lid, or a wheeled 65 or 95 gallon cart, labelled Yard Waste Only, or a compostable paper bag, but not a compostable plastic bag. Lids close, a filled bag stays under 30 pounds, containers sit three feet from the trash and recycling carts, and bundles are tied with nonmetallic cord at no more than five feet and 50 pounds.Official guidance
Six categories are refused: electronics such as computers, televisions and printers, tires, hazardous materials and chemicals, concrete, rock and dirt, and fluorescent tubes. Electronic waste cannot go to an Illinois landfill at all and the city points to the Illinois EPA for recommendations, chemicals and bulbs stay out of every curbside stream, and tires go to one of three local businesses the city names because Peoria runs no tire programme.Official guidance
