City cost & eligibility
From $15 per pickup truck sized load on the special load service, with a freon item charge of 20 dollars added when a load includes a refrigeration unit, billed by the Owensboro Sanitation Department. Paint is collected only when the contents are completely dry, tires and fluorescent tubes are routed to the Transfer Station instead, and a large appliance still holding food waste or other organic material will not be collected.
Special load collection is booked, not scheduled. Call the Sanitation Department with a description of what you are putting out so the office can price the load, and expect a delay, because the department runs this service with a single truck. The neighborhood cleanup days are the free alternative to watch for, but they are one day a year for each alliance, items go out the Friday night before, crews work from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the crews will not return for a late set out.
