When & how
Call South Shore Recycle at (617) 837-1299, or book the pickup online, and set the mattress out only for the appointment the service gives you. The collection depends on vehicle and staff availability rather than the regular trash day.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry, out of the regular trash and off the sidewalk until the booked day, and wrap or bag it if the weather is wet. A mattress is not part of the two item weekly bulky allowance, so it has to be booked rather than put out with furniture.

Self haul in Quincy means the DPW Yard at 55 Sea Street, which is for Quincy residents only. It opens Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM and Saturday 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM inside the published 2026 season window from April 4, 2026 through December 5, 2026, and it takes yard waste, single stream recycling, textiles, electronics, all scrap metal, appliances other than refrigerators and dishwashers, books, CDs, DVDs and mercury items such as thermometers, thermostats, rechargeable batteries and fluorescent bulbs.
