Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not on the city's oversized item list and not on the Recycling Center accept list, even though the city names furniture and appliances there. Because both routes work from published lists rather than a general rule about size, a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed with the Sanitation Division before it goes out.
City cost & eligibility
No exercise machine appears on the curbside oversized item list or the Recycling Center accept list, and no fee is published for one. Call the Sanitation Division on 586-775-1400 with the size of the machine and confirm whether it will be collected or whether it needs a private arrangement.

Call the Sanitation Division first, then either set the machine beside the containers on the day you are told or arrange private disposal.
Get it ready
Break the machine down as far as it will come apart, tape the cables and keep the frame parts together, and keep it clear of the cart and of the compost pile while you wait for the answer.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
Will Warren take a treadmill at the curb?+
