A mattress and box spring is named outright as a bulk item in the village FAQ, so a bed is collected on the second collection day of the week without a phone call. It counts against the same six item weekly bulk limit as furniture and appliances.

When & how
Set the mattress and box spring out for your second collection day of the week, after 6 p.m. the night before or before 7 a.m. on the collection day.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress and box spring dry and together, stand them against the curb rather than flat in the street, and count them with anything else going out on bulk day against the six item limit.
Collections run between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the village asks residents to put refuse at the curb after 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled day. Material set out after 7 a.m. on the morning of pickup is treated as a late set out and may be left behind. Cans go at the curb eighteen inches from the property with covers on top.
The village collects bulk material once a week on the second collection day, with no appointment and no fee, and the test is size and handling: larger than two feet by two feet by four feet and beyond what two workers can lift. Each address is limited to six bulk items and pails of construction debris each week, so a household clearing several rooms should plan the order rather than putting everything out at once.
