Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Household bulk goes out with the regular collection rather than by appointment, so a couch or another piece of furniture belongs at the curb on the scheduled pickup day. The exception runs the other way for metal: metal furniture is named on the metal pickup list, which is a Thursday appointment. Construction material and commercial garbage never go into the pile.
A mattress goes out on the normal collection day, but with a wrapping rule that the city spells out: seal it in a plastic mattress bag and secure the bag with duct tape before it goes to the curb. No appointment is needed for a mattress, and no city fee is published for it.
Appliances ride a different truck than household bulk. Washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, hot water heaters and all metal items are collected on Thursdays by appointment only, the appointment has to be booked before noon on the Tuesday before the pickup, and there is no appliance pickup at all during holiday weeks.
A unit that holds refrigerant needs a permit before it can be collected. Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners follow the Thursday appliance appointment, but the household first buys a Freon removal permit sticker from the City Clerk's Office and then calls the metal line to schedule. A licensed contractor that removes the refrigerant and places its own sticker on the unit is the published alternative.
Televisions, computers and printers are never set out with the regular household trash. The city collects television sets and computer monitors by appointment only, on the second Saturday of the month for the north end and the third Saturday for the south, east and west ends, with the appointment booked before the Thursday of the collection week.
New Rochelle does not collect construction or demolition material at all. Construction materials are on the prohibited list for both garbage and recycling, and the city says this material of any kind has to be disposed of privately. The city publishes a courtesy list of private facilities that take debris, concrete, dirt and scrap metal, with a phone number for each.
Exercise machines and equipment are named on the city metal pickup list, so a treadmill or home gym is collected on the Thursday metal appointment rather than left with the household bulk. The appointment is the same one residents use for grills, tools, pots and pans and metal bed frames.
Household bulk goes out with the regular collection on the scheduled pickup day, with no appointment, as long as it is residential material. The pile cannot contain commercial garbage, construction material, compressed gas tanks, motor oil, medical waste, rocks or dirt, and tires, rims and car batteries are refused at the curb.

Garbage and bulk items go to the curb no later than 7 am on the scheduled pickup day. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day the deadline moves to 6 am for every material, which is the same hour an appliance, metal item or television has to be out on its own appointment day.
