A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Add each furniture item and its quantity. See the combined price before you pay, with loading, transportation and disposal included.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

  1. Choose what leaves and what stays.

Count the furniture you want removed and empty drawers, shelves and cabinets. Add any other items to the booking instead of leaving an unlisted pile beside the furniture.

  2. Arrange the move outside.

You handle indoor carrying and any disassembly needed to get the furniture through your home. Plan for doorways, interior stairs and building access before pickup day.

  3. Show exactly what goes.

Use a permitted outdoor spot with a clear route to the furniture. Add a location photo and access notes. Keep the pickup items separate from furniture and belongings that are staying.

Couches, furniture and carpet

Accepted with preparation

Carpets and furniture go out on a booked bulk collection, with one limit worth knowing: the city will not take furniture that is made entirely of wood.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Furniture and carpet are bulk items in the city's residential service and the city publishes no per item fee; the allowance is four bulk collections a calendar year.
When & how
Call Cityline at 315-448-CITY (2489) two days before the collection and set the piece between the sidewalk and the curb for the scheduled date.
Get it ready
Roll and tie carpet where you can so one person can carry it, keep the load within the 2 cubic yard and 50 pound limits, and check before booking whether a piece is made entirely of wood, because those pieces are not on the accepted list.

Book a city bulk item collection

A Syracuse household with carpets, upholstered furniture, a mattress, up to four tires in a year or extra bagged trash that will not fit the cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Bulk collection is part of the city's residential service and the city publishes no per item fee; the allowance is four collections a calendar year at 2 cubic yards and 50 pounds each.
Arrange it
Call Cityline at 315-448-CITY (2489) at least two days before the collection date you want, then set the material between the sidewalk and the curb.

Four collections a year, 2 cubic yards and 50 pounds per collection, and the accepted list stops at carpets, furniture that is not made entirely of wood, mattresses, tires and bagged trash. Appliances, electronics, paint, hazardous waste and demolition material are all outside it.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Syracuse residents can drive most large material to the Onondaga County transfer station at 5808 Rock Cut Road in Jamesville, which opens to residents on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, takes payment at the gate, and charges extra for an appliance holding refrigerant, a mattress, a microwave or a tire. Yard waste has its own city drop-off at 1200 Canal Street Extension from April through November, and paint and household chemicals go to an appointment at Miller Environmental Group on State Fair Boulevard. Electronics are the exception: the county takes none at its sites, so a television or computer goes to a retailer or mail-back program under the state electronics law. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Syracuse.

How much does furniture removal cost in Syracuse?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Syracuse?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.

Will Syracuse pick up my couch or my carpet?

Yes, through a booked bulk item collection. Carpets and furniture are both on the city's accepted bulk list, and each household gets four bulk collections a calendar year. One exclusion matters: furniture that is made entirely out of wood is not accepted, so an all wood dresser or table needs another route.Official guidance
