No charge. Two bulky items or appliances a week are included in the monthly Full Service package for city sanitation customers, requested in advance. Limited Service customers are not entitled to free oversized appliance collection.
When & how
Place the appliance at the curb on the normal trash day with the request in by 4 p.m. the day before, or by 4 p.m. Friday for a Monday pickup.
Get it ready
Empty the appliance, keep it upright, and leave gas cans, paint cans and hazardous material off the load, because the city refuses hazardous material, liquids and batteries. Confirm refrigerant handling with the sanitation division at 330-971-8010 before an air conditioner, refrigerator or freezer goes out.
All items go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day. Carts stand at least three feet from other carts, trees, mailboxes and obstructions so the truck can reach them, and an overstuffed cart with the lid open is not collected.
Bulky items are requested by 4 p.m. the day before
Every bulky item and special pickup request has to reach the sanitation division by 4 p.m. the day before the pickup, and a Monday pickup needs the request by 4 p.m. on the Friday before. Requests go through the city's online form or the sanitation division on 330-971-8010.
Two bulky items a week for Full Service households
Full Service households may set out two bulky items or appliances a week with no extra charge, and the items are left at the curb on the regular trash day. Limited Service households and loads that do not qualify as bulky carry the published charge instead.
Weekly collection is delayed by one day when it falls on or after Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year's Day, and crews work every other holiday. Yard waste, recyclables and extra clean-up week material follow the same shift that week.
