Ready for it to go

The old sofa can stop holding up your plans.

You know it needs to go. The price, the pickup day and knowing it is done should be easy to settle, too.

A replacement is on the way.

Give the old couch its own pickup day. Check what your retailer will remove, then book the part you still need handled.

The move has enough moving parts.

You do not need a whole room to clear. Book the sofa, recliner or sectional that needs to go, and follow the pickup through updates and photos.

Count the sections, not the cushions.

A loveseat, a sleeper and a sectional can look similar in a photo. Match the shape and features so your online price covers what is actually going.

Three structural sectional modules slightly separated, with all cushions remaining on their bases.
This example has three structural sections. The cushions do not add to the count.

A straight sofa or loveseat

Choose Standard sofa for fixed seats with no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. One whole sofa is one item.

A sectional

Count its structural sections, not the loose cushions. Choose the piece count, then check for a sleeper or reclining feature. One sectional booking covers the configuration you select.

A pull-out bed or reclining seats

Choose Sleeper sofa or Reclining sofa for those mechanisms. A single reclining chair has its own Recliner choice. All sofa types also includes futons and sofas with a chaise.

Couches, furniture and carpet

Accepted with preparation

Couches, tables and large furniture are named bulky items in Cuyahoga Falls, and carpet rides the same allowance when it is rolled, taped or tied and no longer than five feet per roll.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Two bulky items a week are included in the monthly Full Service package for city sanitation customers, with the request made in advance. Limited Service customers are not entitled to free removal of oversized furniture or carpet.
When & how
Curb on your normal trash day with the request in by 4 p.m. the day before, or by 4 p.m. Friday for a Monday pickup.
Get it ready
Roll and tape or tie carpet and padding in lengths no longer than five feet and put out one room's worth a week. Take the piece down as far as it will go, keep cushions with the frame, and remember that wooden fencing is cut to four foot by six foot sections before it is collected.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Curb by 7 a.m. with three feet of clearance

All items go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day. Carts stand at least three feet from other carts, trees, mailboxes and obstructions so the truck can reach them, and an overstuffed cart with the lid open is not collected.

Two bulky items a week for Full Service households

Full Service households may set out two bulky items or appliances a week with no extra charge, and the items are left at the curb on the regular trash day. Limited Service households and loads that do not qualify as bulky carry the published charge instead.

City of Cuyahoga Falls Sanitation Department, with Summit County ReWorks for hazardous, tire and electronics handling

Curbside bulky item collection on the regular trash day

A Full Service household with a mattress, couch, appliance, very large television, grill or other item that will not fit in a cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Two bulky items a week are included in the monthly Full Service package for city sanitation customers. Limited Service customers are not entitled to free removal of oversized items, and a load the city does not treat as bulky carries the published charge.
Arrange it
Submit the bulky item request through the city's online form or on 330-971-8010 by 4 p.m. the day before the pickup, or by 4 p.m. Friday for a Monday pickup, then set the item at the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day with three feet of clearance.

Two bulky items a week, and construction material, tires, batteries, dirt, rocks, concrete, bricks, blocks, liquids and hazardous material are refused. A load larger than the bulky allowance needs a special pickup or a roll-off, and car owners should confirm refrigerant handling for an appliance before it goes out.

City of Cuyahoga Falls Sanitation Department, with Summit County ReWorks for hazardous, tire and electronics handling

Pre-scheduled special pickup for extra or non-bulky items

A city sanitation customer with items beyond the two item weekly allowance, or with a load the city does not classify as bulky.

Cost & conditions
From $30 for for one pickup on a regular work day, covering roughly the volume of a medium pickup truck bed, with the charge rising in steps as more is set out. City sanitation customers who submit the request by 4 p.m. the day before the pickup, with major clean-ups carrying the published minimum.
Arrange it
Request the pickup through the city's online form or on 330-971-8010 before the 4 p.m. deadline, then have the load at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled work day. Special pickups run Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.

Construction material is limited, because the city cannot take larger amounts of it and permit holders are responsible for construction debris. Hazardous waste, liquids and tires are refused, and a large clean-out is usually cheaper and simpler as a roll-off rental.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Cuyahoga Falls means knowing which of three doors the load belongs at. Household hazardous waste goes to the ReWorks collection at 1201 Graham Road in Stow, at the Route 8 overpass, open Thursdays from 2 to 7 p.m. while the season runs, for Summit County residents only, with the 2026 season ending on September 24. Small electronics go into one of the city's three e-waste bins at the Service Complex on Bailey Road, Fire Station 4 on Northampton Road or the Quirk Cultural Center on Grant Avenue, and anything too large for a bin waits for the biannual electronics drives. Tires have no free option, so they go back to the retailer or to a year-round vendor such as the two ReWorks names, and moving more than ten tires needs state registration. Construction material and large clean-outs are the city's own problem to price: a small load can be pre-scheduled as a special pickup for a fee, and a bigger project uses a city roll-off dumpster that accepts what the household carts do not. Everything else that will not fit a cart is a bulky item, which the city takes two at a time on the regular trash day when the request arrives by 4 p.m. the day before.
