A clear count. An exact price.

Count the bags and boxes, not everything inside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.

Filled bags and boxes

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.

Empty cardboard and containers

Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Furniture and other larger items

Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky item pickup booked with your collection company

Accepted with preparation

Your garbage and recycling company offers a bulky item pickup for large pieces such as furniture, appliances and mattresses, priced by the county as a flat pick-up fee plus a charge for each item by size and material. The county includes tires and televisions on this route because they must not go in the garbage.

City cost & eligibility
From $16 for flat pick-up fee per visit, with a separate item charge added for each piece set out. The county sets an urban pick-up fee of $16.00 for customers inside the Metropolitan Service District boundary and a rural pick-up fee of $32.00 for customers outside it, and item rates run from $11.39 to $42.50. Confirm which fee applies to the address and the total with your collection company.
When & how
Book the pickup with your collection company, and expect a bulky item day that may differ from your normal garbage and recycling day.
Get it ready
Have the items at the agreed spot on the agreed day, because the pick-up fee is billed even when the items are not on site, and call-back rates apply when the set-out does not match the instructions. Access that slows the crew is billed as extra labour in five-minute increments, and unlisted items are billed the standard pick-up fee plus a size and material rate.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is the clearest group on the county bulky rate list: a couch or loveseat is an extra large item, a recliner or accent chair is a large item, and desks, bookshelves, chairs and filing cabinets are medium, while an end table or plant stand is a small item.

City cost & eligibility
From $11.39 per item, from the small item rate up to the extra large item rate on the August 1, 2026 county bulky rate list, with the flat pick-up fee added. The county lists a couch or loveseat at the extra large rate, a recliner or accent chair at the large rate, and a desk, bookshelf, chair or filing cabinet at the medium rate. Confirm the size group for the piece when you book.
When & how
Booked with your collection company on a bulky item day, which may differ from the normal garbage day.
Get it ready
Have the piece clean and at the agreed spot for the crew, and take the cushions off if that makes it easier to carry. A sectional is billed for each section, and an entertainment center or armoire is billed as an extra large item the same way a couch is.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

A mattress is priced by size on the county bulky list: a king set is an extra large item and any other size with its box spring is a large item. A mattress is also one of the few household items a Metro transfer station takes free, up to four per customer per day.

City cost & eligibility
From $27.95 per mattress and box spring set in any size other than king on the August 1, 2026 county bulky rate list, with the flat pick-up fee added. A king set is billed at the extra large item rate, the pick-up fee applies once per visit regardless of how many items go out, and a Metro transfer station takes mattresses and box springs instead at no charge to residential customers.
When & how
Book the pickup with your collection company, or take it to a transfer station during public hours.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry, wrap it if it will sit out before the pickup, and have it at the agreed spot with its box spring if the set goes together. A mattress never goes in the garbage cart.

Stoves, washers, dryers and other appliances

Accepted with preparation

The county bulky rate sheet prices appliances in two groups. A stove, oven, washer, dryer, dishwasher or grill is a standard appliance item, while a freezer, refrigerator, portable air conditioner, dehumidifier or water cooler is a coolant containing appliance and costs more because the refrigerant has to be handled.

City cost & eligibility
From $16.56 per appliance item on the August 1, 2026 county bulky rate list, with the flat pick-up fee added. The appliance rate covers items such as a stove, washer or dryer, and a coolant containing appliance is billed at the higher coolant rate. Metal dishwashers, microwaves, water heaters, stoves, ovens and clothes washers and dryers are free to drop at a Metro transfer station.
When & how
Booked with your collection company as a bulky item, or dropped at a Metro transfer station, which takes most metal appliances at no charge.
Get it ready
Empty and clean the unit, keep loose parts with it, and have it at the agreed spot for the crew. Do not put an appliance in the recycling cart, and treat a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner as a coolant appliance rather than a plain metal one.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Accepted with preparation

A refrigerator, freezer, portable air conditioner, dehumidifier or water cooler is a coolant containing appliance on the county bulky rate list, and Metro charges per appliance for the same group at its transfer stations because the refrigerant has to be recovered before the unit is scrapped.

City cost & eligibility
From $42.5 per appliance containing coolant on the August 1, 2026 county bulky rate list, with the flat pick-up fee added. The group is a freezer, refrigerator, portable air conditioner, dehumidifier or water cooler. Metro charges $30 per coolant appliance at its transfer stations, with a limit of five per day per person, and that fee replaces the free metal appliance drop-off.
When & how
Booked with your collection company, or taken to a Metro transfer station, where coolant appliances are limited to five per day per person.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and have it at the agreed spot for the pickup or the scale trip, and keep it out of the recycling cart. Because a coolant appliance is a separate rate group, confirm which rate applies when the pickup is booked.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Accepted with preparation

The county bulky rate list prices a television, laptop or printer as an electronics item through the collection company, and notes that televisions must not go in the garbage. The free route is Oregon E-Cycles, whose participating sites take computers, monitors, televisions and printers at no cost.

City cost & eligibility
From $10.35 per electronics item on the August 1, 2026 county bulky rate list, with the flat pick-up fee added. The paid route covers a television, monitor, computer, laptop or printer through your collection company. Oregon E-Cycles sites take the same group at no charge, seven items or fewer per visit, including keyboards and mice, and other types of electronics are not in the free program.
When & how
Booked with your collection company, or taken to a participating Oregon E-Cycles collection site or a Metro transfer station, which is an Oregon E-Cycles location.
Get it ready
Erase the data on a computer, tablet or phone before it leaves your hands, keep the power supply with the device, and keep electronics out of the garbage and the recycling cart. Oregon E-Cycles sites take seven or fewer computers, monitors, televisions and printers per visit, intact or broken.

Treadmills, weight sets and home gyms

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named in the county bulky item rate list, so a treadmill or a home gym moves as an unlisted item. The county's own rule for anything off the list is the standard pick-up fee plus a rate based on the size and material of the piece.

City cost & eligibility
Exercise equipment is not on the county bulky rate list, so the collection company bills the standard pick-up fee plus a rate based on size and material, and only the company can quote the total. County rate questions go to Solid Waste & Recycling at 503-846-3605.
When & how
Book it with your collection company and confirm the size group before the truck is sent.
Get it ready
Break the machine down as far as the maker allows, strap the parts together so one person can handle them, and have them at the agreed spot. Because the item is unlisted, the company sizes and prices it, so ask for the total when you book.

Find your company and your collection day first

Rockcreek is unincorporated, so the county assigns a certificated collection company to each address rather than running a city route. The county's Garbage and Recycling Day tool shows which company collects and on which day, and it carries the service alerts when severe weather delays a route.

Book a bulky item before the truck comes

Bulky items are not swept up by the weekly cart truck: you call your collection company, the bulky item day may differ from the normal collection day, and the flat pick-up fee is billed even if the items are not out when the crew arrives. Call-back rates apply when a set-out does not match the instructions.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Rockcreek.

How much does bulk junk removal cost in Rockcreek?

A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.

Can you pick up bags of junk today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?

No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.

Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?

Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.

How does a bulky item pickup work in Rockcreek?

You book it with your garbage and recycling company rather than the county, the bulky item day may differ from your normal collection day, and the charge is a flat pick-up fee plus a rate for each item based on its size and material. The item list runs from a small item through a large or extra large item to an appliance, and it includes mattresses, appliances, tires and televisions.Official guidance

How is a couch or a dresser priced for bulk pickup in Rockcreek?

By its size group on the county bulky rate list. A couch or loveseat is an extra large item, a dresser or recliner is a large item, and desks, bookshelves and chairs are medium items, with the flat pick-up fee added once for the visit. Sections of a sectional count separately, and anything not on the list is billed the pick-up fee plus a size and material rate.Official guidance

Can I get rid of a mattress in Rockcreek without paying?

Yes, if you can carry it. A Metro transfer station takes mattresses and box springs at no charge from residential customers, up to four per customer per day, while the collection company route bills the mattress by size as a bulky item on top of its flat pick-up fee. A king set is the extra large rate and any other size is the large rate on that list.Official guidance

How is an appliance priced for pickup in Rockcreek?

By whether it holds coolant. A stove, oven, washer, dryer, dishwasher or grill is a standard appliance item on the county bulky rate list, while a freezer, refrigerator, portable air conditioner, dehumidifier or water cooler is billed as a coolant containing appliance and costs more. Either way the flat pick-up fee is added, and most metal appliances are free to drop at a Metro transfer station.Official guidance

What does it cost to get rid of a refrigerator in Rockcreek?

A refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner is a coolant containing appliance on the county bulky rate list, so it costs more than a stove or a washer, and the flat pick-up fee is added to that item rate. Metro charges a per appliance fee for the same group at its transfer stations, limited to five per day per person, so a collection company pickup is often the simpler route.Official guidance

Is there a free way to recycle a television in Rockcreek?

Yes. Oregon E-Cycles is a free state program, and participating collection sites take seven or fewer computers, monitors, televisions and printers at a time, plus keyboards and mice, whether the item is intact or broken. A Metro transfer station is an Oregon E-Cycles location with a seven item daily limit, while the collection company route bills a television as an electronics item on top of its pick-up fee.Official guidance

Will my hauler take a treadmill in Rockcreek?

It is not named on the county bulky item rate list, so it is handled as an unlisted item, which the county bills at the standard pick-up fee plus a rate based on size and material. Call your garbage and recycling company before it goes out, ask for the total, and break the machine down where that makes it easier for the crew to carry.Official guidance

Who collects garbage in Rockcreek?

Rockcreek is unincorporated Washington County, so there is no city sanitation department. Washington County assigns a certificated garbage and recycling company to each address, sets the rates that company may charge, and publishes the company and the collection day through its Garbage and Recycling Day tool. Questions about a bill go to the collection company, and questions about the rates go to Solid Waste & Recycling at 503-846-3605.Official guidance

Why is a bulky item pickup priced in two parts?

The county rate sheet charges a flat pick-up fee for the visit plus a separate rate for each item, grouped by size and material type. The pick-up fee is the same whether one item or several go out, and any item that is not on the list is billed the standard pick-up fee plus a rate based on its size and material, which is why the company quotes those pieces individually.Official guidance
