Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bethlehem does not collect solid waste itself. The city code puts the duty on the property owner to contract with a private hauler, and the only city-published large-item rule is a bundle capped at three feet by three feet with prior Health Department approval.
Furniture is not part of the city recycling programme and no city collection route is published for it, so the couch travels on the property's private hauler contract.
Bethlehem publishes no mattress rule or mattress route, and the recycling programme and drop-off centers do not take mattresses, so the set goes through the property's hauler.
The recycling center takes the large appliances it lists as white goods, naming washers, dryers, ovens and stoves, along with other scrap metal that is at least half metal. It refuses dishwashers, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers and any appliance that uses a refrigerant, so those units go on the property's hauler contract instead.
Electronics are not collected by the city recycling programme. The city directs e-waste to the respective county or to GERSolutions.
Exercise equipment is not named by the city. An all-metal machine may qualify as scrap metal at the recycling center, and anything else goes through the property's hauler.
The city publishes no construction debris collection and the recycling programme takes none of it, so a renovation load goes through the property's hauler or a permitted facility.
The handoff matters
Bethlehem puts both streams in the same window. Containers may not go out before 6 p.m. on the day before collection, and they have to be back within five feet of the building no later than 8 p.m. on the collection day. Solid waste containers must be rigid, leak proof and lidded, household waste must be bagged inside them, and a resident's own recycling container must be no larger than 30 gallons and marked recycling.
