The local disposal guide
Balch Springs collects trash twice a week and recycling once a week from contractor supplied carts, and large pieces leave through one combined bulk and brush week each month: eight cubic yards set at the curb by seven on the Monday morning of the designated week. Furniture, appliances and a miscellaneous group that runs from televisions to sports equipment are all named as acceptable, while a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner needs a tag proving a certified technician removed the freon before it will be collected. Remodeling material, concrete, dirt, shingles, batteries, tires, pressurised tanks, oils, paint and chemicals never go in the bulky pile, and household chemicals instead go to the Dallas County centre, which does not include Balch Springs in its free list. Dropcurb hauls residential items from addresses across Balch Springs.

Trash is collected twice a week from a Frontier supplied cart, and under the amended agreement the contractor only collects trash that is inside its own cart. Recycling runs once a week on the same account.
One combined bulk and brush collection runs each month in the designated week, with eight cubic yards allowed per month. The size scale in the guideline is one cubic yard for a stove and two cubic yards for a standard truck bed.
Furniture is named first on the acceptable list for the monthly bulk collection, with tables, sofas, chairs and lawn furniture given as the examples. Smaller pieces such as rugs and sections of carpet are bundled rather than loose.
A mattress is not named on the acceptable list or the refused list in the Balch Springs guidelines, so it is an unlisted item rather than a settled one. The furniture line covers tables, sofas, chairs and lawn furniture, and the refused list does not mention bedding either.
Appliances are the second group on the acceptable list, with washing machines, dryers, stoves and water heaters given as the examples. A unit that holds refrigerant is handled separately because it needs a freon tag.
A refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner is collected only when the item is tagged with proof of freon removal by a certified technician. The same group appears on the refused list when the refrigerant is still in the unit.
Televisions are named in the miscellaneous group on the acceptable list, alongside large toys, basketball goals, sports equipment, bikes and children's toys. Computers, printers and other devices are not named on either the accepted or the refused list.
Construction material from a remodeling project is refused in the bulk pile, and the guideline sends the resident to Frontier for a roll-off container quote or a special pickup instead. Dirt, bricks, rock, concrete, sand and shingles are refused alongside it.
Sports equipment is named in the miscellaneous group on the acceptable list for the monthly bulk collection, in the same line as televisions, large toys, basketball goals, bikes and children's toys. A machine still has to follow the general one-person loading rule.
Chemicals, paint and oils are refused in the trash cart and on the bulky list, so household chemicals leave through the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center instead. Balch Springs is not on the county's free list.
The handoff matters
