The local disposal guide
Rowlett runs one weekly collection day for everything, including brush and bulky material. Through Republic Services the city takes up to 2 cubic yards of brush and bulky waste a week with no call in required, and a washer and dryer together are the reference size the city gives, so a couch, a mattress sized item, a water heater or a pile of bundled branches normally fits. Anything beyond that allowance carries a published per yard charge, an off cycle call in pickup is available for an additional fee, and residents can also take debris to the CM Hinton Landfill twice a calendar year at no charge once they hold a city landfill pass. The acceptable list is specific: major appliances are taken except refrigerators and freezers, and the same list covers furniture, small appliances, hot water heaters, rolled carpeting and minor remodelling debris that the resident produced. Contractor waste is excluded by ordinance, and so are dirt, rock, concrete, auto parts, tires, batteries, liquids and hazardous material. Chemicals go to the free Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center, which also takes computers, cell phones and small electronics while refusing televisions and large appliances.

The handoff matters

Put it out with the weekly brush and bulky collection, which allows up to 2 cubic yards a week without a call in, on the regular solid waste and recycling day and out by 7 a.m. Furniture, hot water heaters, small appliances, rolled carpeting, minor remodelling debris from the resident and all other major household appliances are on the acceptable list, while refrigerators and freezers are excluded. More than the allowance is charged by the cubic yard, and an off cycle pickup can be arranged on 972-422-2341.Official guidance
Dirt, rock and concrete, automobile parts, tires and batteries, liquids such as paint, motor oil and solvents, and other hazardous materials such as herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers and pool chemicals are all unacceptable. Construction debris from a contractor is excluded because city ordinance puts contractor waste on the contractor, and bulk and brush service is residential only. Hazardous material goes to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center instead, which is free for Rowlett residents.Official guidance
