The local disposal guide
Mesquite runs its own solid waste division. Household trash is collected twice a week in Dallas County and once a week in Kaufman County from a bagged, lidded container of no more than 48 gallons, and there is a strict set-out window: nothing earlier than 5:30 p.m. the day before pickup and nothing later than 7:30 a.m. on the day itself. Large items and large brush leave on a separate weekly collection, Monday through Friday by area, at the front curb only, with a cap of eight cubic yards and a 24-hour set-out window. Appliances are named and collected every Wednesday at no additional charge on a call to 972-216-6285, electronics go free to the city Convenience Center on Lawson Road, and everything collected from the yard is composted at the Municipal Composting Facility. Bigger or tougher loads run through the Cost Plus programme or an open-top container, and household chemicals go to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center on Plano Road.
