One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

Computers and household electronics

Special rules apply

Computers, printers and small electronics are named nowhere on the city pages, so the destination has to be confirmed.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no electronics collection, no electronics event and no electronics fee here, and the recycle center page names recyclables, cooking oil and grease, tires and oils rather than devices. Confirm with Sanitation on 409-797-3630 whether a device can ride the weekly bulk route or has to go to the transfer station, and confirm the terms before loading.
When & how
Confirm the route first, then use the regular collection day or the transfer station during its published hours.
Get it ready
Wipe stored data from drives, laptops and phones, keep the power supply and cables together, and keep the device out of the recycle center load until someone confirms the center takes it.

Four route days across the island

Galveston splits its collection week by area: Monday serves the west end of the island to 7 1/2 Mile Road, Tuesday runs from 7 1/2 Mile Road to the east side of 51st Street, Wednesday covers the west side of 51st Street to the east side of 31st Street, and Thursday runs from the west side of 31st Street to the East End. Carts and materials need to be at the curb no later than 7 AM on the collection day, the cart may go out no earlier than 5 p.m. the day before, and it comes back to its storage space by 10 p.m. on the day of pickup. Questions and cart requests go to Sanitation on 409-797-3630.

City sanitation page with the collection day map, the cart rules, the weekly bulk pickup and the freon tagging requirement

Bulk rides the regular truck, and freon units need a red tag first

Heavy items such as appliances, furniture and large piles of tree limbs and brush are collected on the regularly scheduled trash day, set at the curb or in the alley next to the trash cart, and a litter truck is sent through for them rather than a separate appointment. Freon appliances are the exception that stops the truck: the city requires the freon to be removed and tagged by a certified technician and the appliance to be red-tagged before Sanitation will remove it, so the work has to be arranged first and the tag has to be on the unit when it goes out.

City sanitation page with the collection day map, the cart rules, the weekly bulk pickup and the freon tagging requirement

The transfer station and the recycle center take what the truck will not

The transfer station at 5515 Harborside Drive is where building materials, roofing materials and items that will not fit the garbage cart go, one trip a month with up to 1,000 pounds, a current water bill and proper identification, and a hard hat and vest worn on site, which the BFI landfill sells if needed. It runs Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 4:45 PM and Saturday 7:00 AM to 11:45 AM, and it refuses combustible materials, compressed aerosol cans that are not empty, concrete, freon, gasoline, kerosene, paint and tires. The recycle center at 702 61st Street takes recyclables around the clock with staff from 8 AM to 4:45 PM, and it takes tires and oils from residents who show proof of residency along with cooking oils and grease. Each April the city adds free bulk pickup by area, free transfer station access from April 15 to 30, a shred day on April 18 and an oil and tire drop-off on April 18 and April 25 with up to five tires per household.

Use the weekly bulk pickup with the trash cart

A Galveston household with furniture, a mattress, an appliance or a large pile of limbs and brush that can go beside the cart on the collection day.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Galveston residential accounts, which must carry city trash service, with the bulk material set at the curb or in the alley next to the cart on the regular collection day.
Arrange it
Put the material out by 7 AM on the collection day for the area, and keep the cart itself off the curb until after 5 p.m. the previous day.

Freon appliances need certified removal and a red tag before collection, and paint, gasoline, kerosene, concrete, freon and tires are refused at the transfer station, so they cannot simply be added to a bulk pile.

Open the city sanitation page

Haul a load to the Harborside Drive transfer station

A Galveston household with building materials, roofing materials or items too large for the garbage cart that the weekly truck will not take.

Cost & conditions
The station page publishes the allowance and the accepted list but no fee, and the citywide cleanup advertises free transfer station access in April, so call 409-741-1258 to confirm the current cost before the trip.
Arrange it
Go to 5515 Harborside Drive on a Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 4:45 PM or a Saturday between 7:00 AM and 11:45 AM with a current water bill, proper identification and a hard hat and vest.

One trip a month and up to 1,000 pounds, with combustible material, non-empty aerosol cans, concrete, freon, gasoline, kerosene, paint and tires all refused.

Open the transfer station page

Use the 61st Street recycle center

A Galveston household with recyclables, cooking oil or grease, or tires and used oils to drop off.

Cost & conditions
The center publishes its address, round the clock drop-off and the residency rule for tires and oils but no fee, so confirm the terms on 409-797-3958 before a special trip.
Arrange it
Drop the material at 702 61st Street, where the site is open 24 hours a day with staff available from 8 AM to 4:45 PM, and bring a driver's licence or other proof of residency for tires and oils.

Residents are required to show proof of residency to deposit tires or oils, the citywide tire event caps households at five tires, and the center named no electronics acceptance, so a device still needs a confirmed route.

Open the recycle center page

With a new purchase

Arrange a private hauler for what the city will not take

A household with concrete, tires, paint, kerosene, gasoline or a load above the monthly transfer station allowance.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no private hauling rate, and the refused materials are exactly the ones a hauler has to take, so ask for a quote and confirm the destination before the load leaves the property.
Arrange it
Book a licensed hauler directly, or ask Sanitation on 409-797-3630 where the refused material is supposed to go before arranging the pickup.

Nothing about a hauler load changes the transfer station's refusal of concrete, paint, gasoline, kerosene, freon and tires, and the load still has to reach a permitted site.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Galveston means two city sites. The transfer station at 5515 Harborside Drive takes building materials, roofing materials and items that will not fit the garbage cart from residents who are cleaning up between trash days, one trip a month with up to 1,000 pounds, Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 4:45 PM and Saturday 7:00 AM to 11:45 AM, with a current water bill and proper identification and a hard hat and vest worn on site, which the BFI landfill sells if you do not have them. It refuses combustible materials, compressed aerosol cans that are not empty, concrete, freon, gasoline, kerosene, paint and tires, and it publishes no fee of its own even though the spring cleanup advertises free access for two weeks. The recycle center at 702 61st Street takes recyclables around the clock with staff from 8 AM to 4:45 PM, plus cooking oils and grease, and tires and used oils from residents who show proof of residency such as a driver's licence. Elderly and disabled residents can also register on 409-797-3630 for a monthly home collection of recyclables and receive a 14-gallon blue bin at no charge. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Galveston.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Galveston?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Galveston?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

How do computers and printers get disposed of in Galveston?

That has to be confirmed, because the city publishes no route for computers, printers or electronics. The recycle center on 61st Street takes recyclables, cooking oil and grease, and tires and oils from residents who show proof of residency, while the transfer station takes building materials, roofing materials and items that will not fit the garbage cart. Call Sanitation on 409-797-3630 to find out which route applies to a device.Official guidance

What can I take to the transfer station?

Building materials, roofing materials and items that will not fit in the garbage cart, which covers most of what a cleanout produces. The limits are one trip per month and up to 1,000 pounds, with a current water bill and proper identification, and a hard hat and vest are required on site and sold at the BFI landfill if you do not have them. Concrete, paint, gasoline, kerosene, freon, tires, combustible material and non-empty aerosol cans are refused.Official guidance

Where do tires and used oil go?

To the recycle center at 702 61st Street rather than the transfer station, which refuses tires. The center accepts tires and oils from residents who show proof of residency such as a driver's licence, along with cooking oils and grease, and it is open 24 hours a day with staff from 8 AM to 4:45 PM on 409-797-3958. During the spring cleanup the oil and tire drop-off takes up to five tires per household with used motor oil, antifreeze or cooking oil in sealed containers.Official guidance
