No charge. Town of Little Elm residential accounts, within the six cubic yard bulk allowance on the scheduled bulk week, or residents with an active water or trash account bringing identification and the most recent utility bill to the Courtesy Drop Site.
When & how
Set the mattress in the grassy strip between the sidewalk and the kerb on the bulk week collection day by 7 a.m., or take it to the Courtesy Drop Site at 1690 E. Eldorado Parkway on a Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday.
Get it ready
Keep the bedding dry and liftable, take the frame and headboard off because they are separate pieces, and keep it clear of mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters and drainage ditches so the crew can reach it.
Weekly carts go out by seven and stay clear of obstacles
Trash and recycling are each collected once a week by Community Waste Disposal. Trash has to be bagged, both carts go to the kerb by 7 a.m. and are emptied between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the service day, lids have to be closed, and carts must sit at least three feet from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters and drainage ditches, with the recycling cart three feet from the trash can as well. Overloaded carts or carts blocked by cars are not serviced, and the town lists the common red tag causes as a cart too close to a fixed object, a lid not fully closed, a cart out of reach, hazardous waste and a bulk item left out that was too large for the cart.
Bulk trash is collected on the household's regularly scheduled trash and recycling day during its bulk week, and every address is on either a first and third week or a second and fourth week schedule. The limit is six cubic yards per pickup, everything goes in the grassy area between the sidewalk and the kerb in front of the home even when the regular carts are collected from the alley, and the crew removes it by 7 p.m. on the collection day. There is no need to schedule a pickup: the pile simply has to be out by 7 a.m. on the right day, and the town warns that items left at the kerb in the wrong week can attract a red tag.

Residents with an active water or trash account only, limited space with occasional early closure when the site fills, no household hazardous waste, and no contractor debris such as whole fences being replaced, roofing shingles, bricks or other construction material. Staff will not help load or unload, and the site opens at noon during Clean and Green weekends.
