The local disposal guide
Pasadena is unusual in that three collection providers work inside the city, and the address decides which one runs the carts. The city municipal crews and Frontier Waste Solutions both collect garbage twice a week, with carts out before 7 a.m. and trash bagged and tied, and the garbage charge sits inside the water deposit and the monthly water bill rather than on a separate bill. Frontier adds a recycling day each week and a bulk and brush collection every two weeks that takes small furniture, mattresses, rugs, televisions and fence material while refusing tires, household hazardous waste, e-waste, white goods and appliances and anything a contractor generated. For the refused material the city sanitation department is the phone call: appliances, tires, computers and household hazardous waste are all scheduled pickups through 713-475-7884, with household chemicals limited to ten gallons or fifty pounds per collection. A homeowner with a project load uses the municipal landfill at 550 Old Genoa-Red Bluff Road for one residential load of up to two cubic yards a month, free with a matching water bill and a tarp, and starting at a published minimum charge above that size.
