The County's bulk FAQ states that each customer may have six bulk collections with up to ten items per collection included with the curbside service each year, while the cost FAQ on the same page says the price includes four limited bulk items a year. Because the page states the allowance two ways, confirm the current allowance and the prepaid fee for additional items with Coastal Waste & Recycling at 352-540-6457 when the collection is booked.

Get it ready
Keep the pile to furniture, non-freon appliances and other large household items that do not fit in the cart, remove or seal the doors on every appliance so children cannot become trapped, and keep the excluded items off the pile entirely. Get it ready
Remove or seal the doors on every appliance before it goes out so children cannot become trapped inside, empty the unit, and keep it clear of the cart. Metal items are accepted for recycling free of gas and oil at the County facilities, which is the right way to move a metal appliance that still has fuel or refrigerant in it.

From $5 for the convenience center visit fee for up to five bags of household kitchen garbage, packaging and clothing at 60 gallons or less per bag. A bulk load of more than five bags of inside-the-home garbage and furniture items is 15 dollars per visit, and yard waste is 15 dollars per visit. Recycling and residential household hazardous waste are free when they are clearly identifiable in original containers, open bins or clear bags, with plastic bags disposed of separately.

Recycling and residential household hazardous waste stay free, and from June 1, 2026 the former free 2,000 pound residential allowance is discontinued.

Drive to 14450 Landfill Rd., Brooksville, FL 34614, open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed Sunday and holidays, with proof of Hernando County residency and help to unload.
Radioactive material, biomedical waste including red bag waste, liquid waste and commercial hazardous waste are refused at every County facility, out-of-county waste is not accepted, and the load is weighed so mixed waste is charged at the higher category when it is not separated.
A household that regularly has more waste than the cart holds or needs a collection beyond the bulk allowance.
