Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics are routed to the Town of Normal's drop-off for McLean County residents, and the city publishes no Bloomington price for that program.

City cost & eligibility
The city accepts electronics at the Town of Normal's electronics recycling drop-off for McLean County residents and publishes no Bloomington fee for that route, so confirm the current acceptance and any charge with the Town of Normal program before loading.
When & how
Take the electronics to the Town of Normal's self service electronics recycling drop-off, which the city lists for all McLean County residents.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage and recycling carts, and keep household hazardous waste off the load because Bloomington does not accept it curbside or at its drop-off.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Commercial waste, heavy material and hazardous waste have their own routes

Commercial waste is not acceptable for curbside pickup, and leaves, garden trimmings, brush, hot ashes, solvents, paint, dead animals, chemicals, oils, liquids, medical waste and household hazardous waste cannot go in a cart. Needles go in a sealed coffee can or laundry detergent container with the ends broken off, labeled for sharps and placed inside a garbage cart, and appliances, concrete, rock, shingles and electronics each have a separate destination instead of the carts.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Cost & conditions
The city does not publish a Bloomington fee and routes electronics to the Town of Normal's program, so confirm the current acceptance and any charge with that program before loading.
Arrange it
Visit the Town of Normal's self service electronics recycling drop-off, which the city lists as available to all McLean County residents, and keep household hazardous waste off the load.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Bloomington runs the Solid Waste Program through Public Works: garbage weekly, recycling every other week, and leaves, trimmings, brush and bulk each every other week on the alternating weeks, with carts out no earlier than 2 p.m. the day before and no later than 6 a.m. on the pickup day. The monthly cart fee includes the first loader bucket of bulk at about 2.5 cubic yards, the fall leaf pickup and use of the Citizen Convenience Center at 402 S. East Street, where leaves, brush, garden trimmings, appliances and empty propane tanks can be dropped while it is open from April through December. Appliances are also collected curbside by an outside company that charges for refrigerant removal, concrete, rock, shingles and brick have to be arranged with Public Works for a fee because the convenience center no longer takes them, electronics go to the Town of Normal's McLean County drop-off, and household hazardous waste is not accepted curbside or at the drop-off and runs through Ecology Action Center events. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Bloomington.

How much does TV removal cost in Bloomington?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Bloomington?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Bloomington electronics go?

The city sends electronics to the Town of Normal's electronics recycling drop-off, which it lists as available to all McLean County residents. Bloomington publishes no city fee for that program, so confirm the current acceptance and any charge with the Town of Normal before loading, and keep household hazardous waste on its own route because the city does not accept it curbside or at its drop-off.Official guidance
