When & how

When & how
Call or email LRS before the service day to preschedule the appliance, then set it out on the collection day. An appliance is never part of the monthly electronic waste collection.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and keep it out of the refuse and recycling carts. A refrigerant unit has to go through the appliance path rather than the electronic waste collection, which refuses appliances, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and microwaves.
LRS takes one bulk item every week at no charge, and the published examples are a bed frame, box spring, bicycle, chair, love seat or sofa, one part of a sectional couch, mattress, frame or wall picture and a toy. Each additional item in the same week is $25.00 prepaid, and anything over 50 pounds or needing extra labor moves to a special pickup estimate.
Electronics, appliances and hazardous waste all need a request first
Nothing from those three streams goes out as a surprise: appliances must be prescheduled with LRS before the service day, electronic waste needs a request at least 48 hours ahead for the first full week of the month, and household hazardous waste is scheduled directly with the resident after a request. Everything else, including the free weekly bulk item, goes out by 6 a.m. on the regular collection day.
